Hello: I am directly descended from Elijah & Tabitha (Hawley/Holly) Legg through their daughter Susannah who married Robert 'Bobby' Walcutt. Thank you for the information on Elizabeth Legg and her family. Elijah also lived in Champaign Co., OH for a short while. I can help some on the Legg family - there is a web site on the surname that takes the family back into old Virginia several more generations. I would be very interested in any pictures you may have of Elijah or Tabitha or their children. I have a picture of Tabitha that came down through the Walcutt family. Do you have anything on the Hawley/Holly family? Hi! Last year I conducted some research for one of my clients on the Grooms family. Tabitha Wiley b. about 1837 in Ohio, died abt. 1899 in Franklin Co., Ohio. She married Charles Grooms 16 April 1857 in Franklin County. Both Tabitha Wiley and Charles are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Franklin Co., Ohio. Their children were William, Eliza, James E., Mary E, Alice and Phebe Grooms. Charles and Tabitha appear with their family in the 1860 census, Prairie Townwship. They are in the 1870 census in Brown Township, p. 32, Franklin Co. Charles and Tabitha are listed in the cemetery records published by the Franklin Co., Genealogical Society, Vol. 8, Norwich Township, p. 11. Charles' parents may be Harmon and Bertha Grooms, not fully proven. There may be other Wileys in the same cemetery. Hi! You might want to contact the Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society. As part of their library they have an extensive surname file, and info on your ancestor might be found there. There is a strong interest in collecting info on early settlers. Also, as he was one of the early settlers someone in his family line might have applied for membership in Pioneers of Franklin County, and their file would have documented information. Happy Hunting!
