Author: karenweir52 Surnames: DENALSANO Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.franklin/18243/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Walter L. Denalsano was born November 22,1870....could be 1879, records state different places of birth, family always thought he was born in a ship off the coast of Managua Cuba. There is no record anyhwere we find that states this, only what family says. Some records report he was born in St Augustine Florida, others say Mexico,,...some records state his parents were both born in Florida, yet we do not know the names of his parents and have not been successful in finding one single thread of a hint about this mans family . He married Mary Marie Gaines Oct 16,1901 in Eagle Pass, Maverick County Texas.....in 1887 ancestry.com states he is in Columbus Ohio living at 631 Mc Coy, states he is a musician, this is odd however because he could not have been head of household, was this his father? He would have been too young if the record is correct, so now I find military record from Texas stating WALTO L DENALSANO had a alias , WALTER L NELSON.The record shows he was a musician! in the military band, date oct 18 1921, he was in the Ranger force, found at the Texas ADjutant service records, TVG 401-189, This record states He was born in MONTERREY MEXICO,, he was a deputy game warden.,, another record states he was a volunteer in the 3rd TEXAS INFANTRY , band , says he is born in Cuba and he is a soldier , it lists a town or county but i cant read it. the date is aug 24 1898 FT CLARK , BRACKETTVILLE TEXAS , In case of emergency it lists Elenor De Nalsano, in Brackettville TX I found a record, or index to record of the Civil war pension index 1861-1934, lists name WALTO L DENALSANO, NOW IN 1900 He is living in Bracketville , Kinney County Texas , living with a wife Ella( we dont know who this was, states she was born in Kentucky) and he is also living with stepdaughter 18 years old Bertha, who was born in Ohio, we do not find any other evidence of Bertha or Ella, next time we find Walto he was in Eagle Pass Texas living with wife, son Walto Leon Jr,! Chiara, Beulah, Jacob Shaklan and Thelma.................he died Dece mber 4, 1951 San Antonio Bexar County Texas and is buried with his wife MARY MARIE GAINES DENALSANO at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery. His son Walto L Denalsano Jr was born in 1905 Eagle Pass Texas and is also buried at Ft Sam Houston National Cem. Our biggest questions ; we wonder where he was all the years we cant find him in census, we question who his parents were. We have not found any evidences that would even give us a hint about his parents, who they were, when they were born, where and when they died. We know he wasnt born under a cabbage patch, but are puzzled as to why we cant locate anyhting else about him and his parents. If anyone can find out anyhting or help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.I wanted to mention, aside from the alias he had, the surname was occasionally mis-spelled, we have seen these various spellings, Denalsano is correct, also we find DE Nalsano, Delsano Donalsano........... Many thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We've moved! You can now find us in two places: http://greenlawn.delaohio.com/ or http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~greenlawn/ We now have over 128,429 records of the Green Lawn Cemetery. Included in the records are so far, 7,008 Military records and 3,725 Obituaries. Green Lawn is located at 1000 Green Lawn Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. A few changes have been made, not only to the database location, but to the fact that when you look at the index, you will notice an O or M at the end of the persons record. This indicates if we have the obituary and/or the Military record of that individual. When you request a record, if there is an O or M those items will be included in the notes file. We have no affiliation with Green Lawn what so ever. You can request the index record from the website giving the Name and years of birth and death if available. The records begin with 1848 and go thru 1981. If you have any lot maps (Not section maps) or obituaries, you can send the Obits to Joe Fleshman [email protected] (You can also view and request the records for Most all burials in Delaware County, Ohio. View those records at: http://oakgrove.delaware43015.com/ ) You can view nearly 7,000 Green Lawn gravestone photos at: http://www.genealogybug.net/Franklin_Cemeteries/greenlawn/greenlawn.html NEW URL Dave & Leona are taking requests for gravestone photos again. Contact Leona at [email protected] We need help with getting the Obituaries from the Columbus Metro Library. A new policy was put in place in the summer of 2007, "Discovery Place Library Cardholders may request one obituary per cardholder per day." So we need Franklin County residents who are willing to request and forward obituaries. We could use help transcribing the obituaries, too. Greene county was just split from Washington Co. in 1800, so everyone was living in the same county just before this census. This is important because I am certain that the Ichabod on the above censuses is the son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Pembroke) Ross, whom we find in Greene Co. PA on the 1820 & 1830 censuses. Isaac was a Rev. War Vet, and his family originates in New Jersey. He died in Athens Co., Ohio, where Ichabod and family had eventually settled. Isaac is on the 1840 Indiana, Saint Joseph Co. census, with his wife. He is age 80-90 (actually he gives 80 under his Veteran's info) and she is age 70-80. Does anyone have further information the SIBLINGS of Isaac Ross, or on his children? I can only find info on one son - Ichabod - though census readings in PA lead me to believe that there were others: Isaac Ross Jr., James, David, and Jacob A. All of whom are listed on the: 1830 Center Twp., Green Co.PA census on pp: 7 - Isaac Jr 9 - James & David 11 - Isaac Sr., and Jacob A. In 1820, same location, there is Isaac, Isaac Jr., and David Back to the Rosses in 1800: In 1800, William Ross is the ONLY Ross in Finley Twp, Washington Co., PA. As I said, Washington & Greene counties had just split, so he could have been living near other Rosses who are now in Greene county. Finley: M32_440056; p. 3 of 4 at Ancestry.com's Images Online William: Males: 1, 10 to under 15; 2, 15 to under 25; 1,45 (b.bef. 1755) Females: 1 under 10; 1, 10 to under 15; 1, 15 to under 25 Looks as though his wife has died. I have to say the while on the surface, it seems William could be Daniel's father, I don't think this is so. William's 'numbers' on the censuses do not reflect a son of Daniel's age going out on his own when he does. 1810 PA Washington Co., Finley Twp., M252_57 rp101, 102 & 104; pp. 2, 3 & 5 of 6 at Ancestry.com's Images Online Note-Finley Twp. did not split into E./W. until 1828, after our Rosses had left the area. On p.2 appears: THOMAS Ross, Males: 1under 10; 1, 45 Females: 1under 10; 2, 10 to under 16; 2, 16 to under 26; 1, 45 On p.3 appears: DANIEL Ross, Males: 2under 10; 1, 10 to under 16; 1, 26 to under 45 Females: 1under 10; 1, 10 to under 16; 1, 16 to under 26; 1, 26 to under 45; 1, 45 This is "our" Daniel's first appearance on his own. The older female could be his mother or m-i-l, and the female 16 to under 26 might be a sister, or a daughter?. On p.5 appears: WILLIAM Ross, Males: 1, 16 to under 26; 2, 26 to under 45; 1, 45 Females: 1, 10 to under 16; 1, 16 to under 26 The numbers would now seem to indicate that William's oldest daughter had either died or married. Neither William NOR Thomas Ross have been found on the 1820 census for sure. Either died, moved, or went to live in another household? Anyway, thanks for listening. It just seems to me that since these families seemed to be following each other around, there must be some relationship. Hope someone else out there is thinking the same thing!
