    1. [OHFRANKL] Mabel Warren Pickett, Columbus early 1900s
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jlauter159 Surnames: Warren, Pickett Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.franklin/18284/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Reposting this old query, in case somebody can help me! I wonder if anyone has access to death notices or newspaper archives for Columbus around 1909. Mabel Pickett (b. Ottawa Canada 1883) went to jail around this time frame for killing her baby (sounds like severe postpartum depression??) I would think it would have been in the newspaper, since it seems a sensational crime. Not sure of the baby's name or gender, but there was a James William Pickett died 17 Apr 1909, and this may have been the baby. Mabel did not spend a long time in jail, but the Warren family was disgraced and moved to Dayton because of the scandal. It is also possible that Mabel was unmarried at the time and thus would still be Mabel Warren, not Pickett. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The Margaret you have listed is the correct one. I found her about a year ago. They have her father's name listed incorrectly. I was hoping the Martha that was there was her mother, but it isn't my Martha. It's becoming more and more frustrating. Margaret's brother, Bill left Columbus after she died and lived in Allegheny Co. PA before his death sometime after 1910. I don't know if Martha and William may have gone with him there after Margaret's death or not. I seem to be hitting brick walls. Thanks sincerely anyway! Author: ljhgwr Surnames: McBride Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.franklin/18282/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am in need of help finding death information of William M. McBride, born 1836 in Pennsylvania and his wife, Martha A. McBride, born 1837 in Pennsylvania. As of the 1900 census, they were living in Columbus, Franklin County. After 1900, I can find no record of either one of them. Their daughter, Margaret McBride Marling died in April, 1908. If anyone can check the Franklin County death records between 1900 and 1910 to see if either of these McBrides shows up, I would be eternally grateful.
