    3. If you look at the death certificate for that Ella Wallis it lists her as widowed with a different Wallis husband than Emmett. However, Ella did pass away between 1930 and 1949 but I haven't been able to narrow it down. She said there was little if any mention of Charles, and that she always thought of David Wallace as her grandfather. When I mentioned her father's brothers by name,(meaning Charles and William Garrison), she gave me a blank look, and said she thought I was talking about David and Dick Wallace. Her only memories of "Mr. Price" were that he was "old, kind, and frail." Linda assumed Minnie and Oscar were married. She did mention a caretaker who lived with Minnie and Oscar for a while, by the name of Carolyn Rutledge. She was a little surprised when I read your excerpt from Oscar's obit, mentioning his foster daughter, Carol Rutledge. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I would love to have copies of any documents you're finding, as in doing your research, you're coming up with lots of useful information for me. My email is in my profile or on my website (http://genealogy.ravensbeak.com/about.shtml); drop me a message there and I'll give you my snail mail address, or we'll work something else out. So at this point, it's reasonable to assume that Charles Garrison died between Nov 1905 (Arthur's probable conception) and, realistically, Nov 1906. I say realistically as it's not likely, I think, even in the early 1900's, that weddings would be done very quickly. I could be way off about that, but given that Minnie was widowed, I would expect a certain socially proper mourning period before she began courting again and remarried. As for Minie and Charles' marriage record, it might be worth checking Pickaway and Madison counties. One thing I haven't done yet is to talk with my MIL about her grandparents, so I'll work on that soon. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am trying to get the obituary for that person to make certain he is the same William Garrison, son of Charles and Minnie. I wasn't paying attention. It was Minnie's mother, and not Minnie, who said they were divorced in the 1910 census. I just got Minnie's marriage record to David King Wallace. They were married in Franklin co., Ohio on 17 Dec 1906. On that she says she was married once before, and is a widow. I could not find the marriage record for Minnie Weethee and Charles Garrison in Franklin county. She married David King Wallace under the name Minnie Almary Garrison. On the marriage license it says that Minnie was 23 on the 20th of either Jun or Jan 1906. That seems odd, because her interment card at Greenlawn says she was born Aug. 8, 1882. The 1900 census gives her date of birth as Aug 1881. Her marriage record says her father's name is Wethee. Her mother's name is difficult to make out, but it looks like it says something like "Sweet". Her interment card says her parents are E. R. Weethee and Hannah Van Sickle. Both records say she was born in Circleville, Ohio. Minnie's interment card calls her Minnie Almary Price, although her tombstone calls her Minnie Wallace. I don't know where Charles was in 1910. Some people are difficult to find in the census records. There are some people in my research I have never been able to find. There were Charles Garrisons who died in Franklin county in 1916 and 1928. I suspect one of those is Minnie's ex-husband. An obituary would verify whether or not that is the case. You said that Arthur Garrison was your mother-in-law's father. That would make Minnie her grandmother. Do you know if your mother-in-law knew Minnie's 3rd husband, Oscar Price, well? I have been searching for information about my great-grandfather for about 20 years. He is Oscar's nephew. I suspect he died in WW1. I have always hoped to find somebody who knew Oscar well enough that he might have discussed family. I made contact with a man who lived in Grove City, Ohio who was raised by Oscar and his second wife Elizabeth nee Thompson, but he didn't know anything. I also made contact with a woman who was raised by Oscar and Minnie. She didn't know too much, either. This is most likely because my great-grandfather died so young. The same was true for his mother (Oscar's sister Birdie). She died in Columbus 16 Jan 1920 on Cypress ave. She was only 42 when she died. We did manage to get a couple of photos of Oscar, one of which includes Minnie and several other unidentified fami! ly members. Looks like it's now an extended-stay hotel. As always, tugging one thread presents as many questions as it answers. What was David Wallace charged with? (OK, I'm just nosy) Why were William and Charles listed as inmates at an orphans' home? Where was Ida Garrison? Where was Charles Emory Garrison? On the census, Minnie Wallace claims having 7 children, but only 4 were alive. She had 4 with Charles Garrison: Ida, Charles, William and Arthur. She also had a son, Richard Wallace. That's 5 children. Had she had 2 or 3 miscarriages or stillbirths between 1908 and 1910? Was Ida dead at that point? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
