    1. [OHFRANKL] info Ohio State Hospital, Columbus, 9th Ward - death in 1910
    2. K Steward
    3. Is it possible to access the 1910 State Hospital records directly to see if they contain any information about an inmate that doesn't appear in the State of Ohio death certificate? I have found a copy of a State of Ohio death certificate for a James GARES online at http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/ in which it says that the 'Informant' was the State Hospital Records in Columbus. He was an inmate from October 14, 1909 until his death on March 1, 1910, but 'unknown' is entered on the lines for his parents and birthplace. However, he was to be buried in Groveport Ohio, where my GARES ancestors lived. I've never found any reference to a James GARES in our family records, so I'm very curious to learn more about this James GARES. While there are number of men named James GARES in the various Census records, none seems close enough to be the 'right' fellow, so I'm stumped. Thanks in advance for any info re other sources, or suggestions for further research. K. Steward Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Author: kinhunter2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.franklin/18311/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In my great uncle's 1963 obituary, it states that he was a member of B. of R.T. Number 72 and the Old Veterans Club. He was in WWI, so I figure that the Old Vets Club dealt with that, but I'm stumped by what the B. of R.T. is. His wife was in the Ladies Auxiliary of the same. My great uncle worked for the C&O Railroad and I'm wondering if it had to do with RR workers? Any help greatly appreciated! 3. It stands for "Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen". My father was an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad and while a 'brakeman' was represented by this union. When he became a 'conductor' he was represented by the ORC or "Order of Railway Conductors". Sometime after my fathers death in 1981 the two merged but I fail to remember what they called them selves. Marlene Weiland Wallace

I believe if you were born before 1965 the records were not sealed and you can request them from the state department of health. After that date, they are sealed. You might register with an agency (ALMA) that tries to link birth parents and their children. That is how my sister found her son after 35 years.
