I purchased a copy of the Fayette County, Ohio Marriages Book A, 1810 - 1830 in the hopes of making a connection. No such luck, however I will be glad to search for names if you wish to contact me. I'm wondering if anyone out there has a copy of Books B and C covering the years 1831 - 1855? Irma Jean Morgan Merced, CA

Greetings to the list, I am new on the list, but as yet have received no mail. Would like to ask if there is anyone on this list that has access to Fayette County records or information? Am interested in finding out information about Allegre family - especially Francis Allegre, son of James, probably born in Fayette County about 1832. The family moved to Albany, Indiana by 1843. Thanks for your gracious help. Barbara Allison brjall@excelonline.com
Just subscribed to list yesterday. Am looking for Toothakers, and Juett/Jewett. The David Juett/Jewett family lived in Fayette Co and he bought some land. Would someone please tell me if there is a place to find land records here? This would have been around 1820 to 1850. Also searching for David's parents, Robert and Sary, as listed in a bible. David was born 1795 in Ky. Were there any groups of people coming from Ky in early 1800's? David married an Elizabeth Toothaker. He may have had other marriages, also. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. I am decendent of David and Elizabeth's daughter, Hester Ann Juett/Jewett. Carm in IA

I have been told that DAR copied a Fayette County tombstone inscription which read "Rosehana died October 29, 1843" and that she was the first wife of my ancestor William Rydman (Redman). Could someone give me suggestions on how I might learn more about this woman and if she was married to William Rydman? I did not find William in the 1850 census in Fayette Co. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Hi: I am new to this list so will tell you what I am researching. I have been researching Charles Henry Junk for 25 years, he being my great grandfather. I have never found his parents and am requesting help or suggestions. Charles Henry Junk stated in his Civil War pension application that he was born in Fayette county, Ohio, near Chillicothe in 1834. Family records state he lost his parents at an early age.He traveled from Ohio to Clayton, Illinois with the Motter wagon train in 1854. He married Anna Merida Motter in Adams county, Illinois on September 1, 1855. Anna Merida Motter was the daughter of Jonathan Motter and Elizabeth Holloway. On August 9th, 1862 he volunteered and was in Company E, 119th Illinois infantry, participating in the Civil War, having entered from Brown county, Illinois. I have written for many years to different places in Ohio requesting information on hm or his parents, but have never been fortunate enough to find anything. He is found in the 1850 Ohio census, living alone. Any suggestions or help would be gratefully received. Thank you. Pearla Benjamin

Jeffersonville Citizen - Thursday March 18, 1926 - Fayette County UNDERWOOD Joseph William Underwod, son of Lewis and Jane Underwood, was born in Clinton County, Ohio May 28, 1858. He was the youngest of the family of nine children, of whom three survive. Mrs. Sarah A. Horney of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Mrs. Acemith Ann Johnston, Rhea Okla. and Mr. Enos L. Underwood of May, Okla. The subject of the sketch was united in marriage with Miss Mattie Mills, October 26, 1879. To this union four children were born. Franklin E. the first born, died in infancy; Orlie G. of Greensburg Kas; William of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Mrs. Leo Wright who resides in the home. Mr. and Mrs. Wright have only recentally come into the home to manage the farm. The life companion, three children named above, and six grandchildren are left to mourn the departure of this good man. When quite young he united with the Blessings Chapel M.P. Church, during the pastorate of Rev. P.F. Johnson, but during the pastorate of Rev. S.S. Fleming he renewed his covenant with the Lord and remained a consistent member until the class was disbanded. He was clean in his living, honest in all his relations with his fellow men, and will be greatly missed from the circles of his friends. He had been in poor health for two years but not one time was he confined to his bed. Suddenly and quietely the messenger came Sunday morning, March 16, 1926. While sitting in his chair, he "slipped away" having attained the age of 67 years, 9months, and 21 days. The funeral was in charge of Morrow and Zimmerman and was held at the house two miles North West of Jeffersonville, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. A.E. Black conducted religious services. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. I have no connection with this family. I am just posting this obit I found.
