Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Fayette/172 Surname: MARINE, TOBIN, ROSS, SPERRY ------------------------- I was at the Ohio Historical Society a couple of weeks ago and did some searching for you on George. I looked for him the 1900 census and couldn't find his name listed where it shouldhave been. Makes me wonder if he wasn't in a home by then somewhere in Fayette County... I also called to Ross and Greene counties and neither of them have a death record for him. The only record of his dying is his headstone, which I intend to photograph for you if this blasted cold weather ever goes away!!!!! The search continues... ***SIGH*** Oh yes, it was suggested by Mrs. Shaper that you should also look at the Cleveland VA hospital. It seems that while it may seem a a long shot, she has found some Fayette County residents who died there. Also, his headstone was a private one, that a family member had engraved. His unit was on there, but still privately done. That is not to say that the government didn't pay for the engraving... Have you sent for his pension records maybe? Nancy M. 3. Posted on: Fayette Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Fayette/157 Surname: MARINE, TOBIN, ROSS, SPERRY ------------------------- I finally heard from the IOOF Cemetary in Blanchester and all they could give me was that his year of death was 1908. George had a private stone on his grave, rather than the military one, but the man was able to also tell me that George served in the military. He said that the record showed him as a member of the military during the "Grand Army Republic War" which he says was the Civil War. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he fought for VA? I don't know, but the cemetery had no copy of his death record nor did they know which mortuary buried him. I think George ahs us all stumped... If I can find anymore, I'll let you know. And a thought just occured to me that his oldest son lived in Greene County. Might he have spent his last years with his son, George? Just a thought that you might contact Greene County to see if they have his death registered?

    3. Posted on: Fayette Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Fayette/154 Surname: Bloomer, Allen, Smith ------------------------- Phoebe Bloomer was the daughter Nehemiah Bloomer. She had a brother William Bloomer. I descend from William through his son John Bloomer who married Anna Allen. Their daughter Sophronia Bloomer b. 1844 married John Smith. These were my Great-Great Grandparents. I have a copy of the book "History of Fayette County" by R.S. Dills which has information on Phoebe Bloomer who married Aaron Johnson. He was a Sheriff of Fayette County and also kept a hotel in Washington C.H. It says that Phoebe was a pioneer in the Millinery business and that they moved to Indiana. It doesn't mention a Jesse Worthington in that paragraph but that name appears elsewhere in the book as a State Representative for Fayette County. e-mail me at whittyfun@juno.com for more info.

Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Fayette/148 Surname: SLUSHER, JUDY, LEVECK ------------------------- Hello Nancy, Thank you ever so much for you continuing help with my research. The George W. SLUSHER (w/wife Mary Amanda LEVECK) in the 1910 census is the son of my GGGFather. My GGGF, George Wiliam SLUSHER (1838-1908), and my GGGM, Susan Catherine (JUDY) SLUSHER (1841-1934) divorced in April 1894 in Fayette County, OH (I ave obtained the divorce documents). George in known to have remarried and old family papers refered to her as only being named "Addie"?. Surely the 30 Aug 1894 marriage of G. W. SLUSHER and "Abbie" A. STROUP is my GGGFather's remarriage. THANK YOU!!!!! Can you poss obtain a copy of those marriage doccuments? It would surely be appreciated. Another subj: I have wriiten to both Clinton County and Fayette County Court Houses regarding the death of my GGGF on 15 Nov 1908. He is buried in the I. I. O. F. Cemetery in Blanchester. Both Counties have replied that they have no record of his death. I havn't a clue where George and his 2nd wife Abbie lived after their marriage in Fayette County in 1894 and his death in 1908 nor what happened to Abbie. Another subj: On another reply, you said that you had access to the will & probate records of my GGGM, Susan SLUSHER. I have a copy of a 3 page document re her probate & will (Which I believe you snail mailed to me last Aug - or I got directly from the Fayette Co., Court House, in the mail - can remember for sure) - again Thank you!!! Please let me know about the availabily of marriage doccument(s) re marriage of G. W. SLUSHER and Abbie A. STROUP - Thank YOU!!!!!! x
