Oh Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Fayette/10224 Surname: Worthington ------------------------- Kathy, I checked the indexes for 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. Never a Jesse Worthington in Fayette Co. There was a Jesse in Morgan Co. each year. Morgan Co. is in southeast Ohio. Another Jesse appears in Mercer (1850) and Auglaize (1860), bordering counties in west-central Ohio. All of these counties are about 100 miles from Fayette. It's possible he owned land there, but never lived there. I know some Worthingtons from my line went to Fayette from Highland Co. after 1850, but know nothing about any Jesse. sorry, Steve Taylor, gggg-granson of Ephraim Worthington

Posted on: Fayette Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Fayette/10208 Surname: MARINE, TOBIN, ROSS, SPERRY ------------------------- The gentleman you are referring to is known in Fayette County as H.B. Maynard, and everything he signed has that name on it, including his estate, which is in the archives. He lived in the county his entire life and if I'm not mistaken, is buried in Washington Cemetery, in Washington CH. I don't know where you live but in the County Courthouse, his portrait in the Common Pleas Court Room. He was an extremely harsh judge, but he sat on the bench for too many cases to count. Prior to his being a Common Pleas jusge, he was an attorney in the county and his offices were in Washington CH. If you live even remotely close to Fayette County, please come to the Archives and I can show you a great deal, as his genealogy is probably mostly done and at the library.
