Broad St. aged 86 years 5 mo. 20 days. He served in the Civil War of 1864 as 5th Sargeant of Co. E. 27th regiment.(U.S.C.I.) The greater part of his life was devoted to gardening until about two years ago, when his health and advanced age compelled him to retire from service. He was a member of the A. M. E. church and also of the G. A. R post. His wife (Josephine) preceded him in death 22 years ago. He leaves to mourn his departure 10 children. Mrs. Stella (Carlos) Chapman of the home, Rebecca Randall, Fannie McClair, Henry Albert and Sheridan Tibbs, all of Lancaster. Mrs. Annie Gordon and Lafayette Tibbs of Columbus, Lida Williams of Cleveland and Willis Tibbs of Akron, 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at the A. M. E church at1:30 conducted by Rev. J. P. Maxwell and B. M. McLinn. Burial in Elmwood cemetery, F. E. Smith funeral director in charge.
