Thanks for the suggestion, Heather - but Louisa Gares died in either 1873 or 1875, so no listing for her on the Mortality Schedule for 1870. I did get lucky with regards to her husband though -he died in June, 1859 and was on the Mortality Schedule for the 1860 Census, so I do know that that source is a good one to check out!
