Looking over a petition for partition involving Frederick Rabe, an ancestor, I found a copy of the following transcript from 1857 February 28th: It is hereby certified that the Land Warrant 80.058 for 160 acres has been issued in the name of Christina Kramer, Frederick Rabe and Hannah Rife, brother and sisters and heirs at law of Peter Rabe, alias Rabey, deceased, late a private in Captain Tucker's 2nd Regiment Ohio Volunteers ... and will be deposited in the General Land Office at the seat of Government ... After the location of the certificate it is to be surrendered to the General Land Office whence this Patent will issue. [BTW, Philemon Ewing bought Fred and Hannah's share in 1859 and, after successfully partioning the property in 1869, bought Christina's share in 1870] Two questions that someone may be able to help me with: 1) where would I look to get a regimental roll of this unit? It seems Peter served in the Mexican-American War and it would be interesting to see when and where he did so. 2) where would I look to get a copy of this certificate/warrant/ patent? Understanding 19th century property transactions are not a strong point of mine, so I am not even sure what I am asking for, let alone to whom I should ask for it!
