We have found a letter written to Mrs.. Susan Rogers Morton in Haymarket, Virginia, - dated Feb 2, 1941 - from John Dye of 1388 E. Mound St. Columbus, OH. This is not the current John Dye of Lancaster. The letter is concerned with genealogy and quotes enough of the Dye history that this has to be a family member. The other surnames discussed in the letter are Welles ("we know Lydis Welles married Jessie B. Carter" and one of their daughters married John Hixon and moved to Meigs Co. OH from Fairfax Co. Va. and she was known to be related to .. ") the writers grandfather. Mary Bradfield was the writer's gggrandmother. Selden, Carter, Peyton, Sanford, Washington, and Ball are all named as related surnames. This man was into genealogy, may have continued his study, may be alive still or have local descendents in possession of his work, and is unknown to us. None of these Surnames are known to be in the Dye family material which we have. Nevertheless the Dye material he discusses is in our family. Any suggestions how to continue with this lead-in? Is there a Franklin Co. list I could submit this to? Do the other surnames mentioned tie in somehow? There are 86 listings in the Columbus phone book under Dye but we are not aware of any connection. Now I feel there may be a gold mine of new family connections waiting to be discovered. Help please. Jayne
