My connection to Fairfield county Ohio are all prior to 1836. My GGG grand father Thomas Bowen as well as my GG grand father William Bowen both owned lands in Morrow cty. Ohio. which according to land patent reports oho170_.172 & OH0170_.466 were purchased in 1831. which by the way I just recently found Thanks to a URL submitted by Patsy Kishler to OHFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com 10 May 1998. The Biographical Record of Blackford cty. Indiana which I found at the Allen cty. Library in Fort wayne IN. Stated that Thomas & William both had came from Ohio to Blackford cty. IN. in 1836. The same book also told of a Ozias Barnes that had married Hannah Bowen, in Fairfield cty. Ohio, who was a daughter to Thomas and a sister to William. I visited Fairfield cty. and the Lancaster District Library found the marriage record of Ozias & Hannah. And I also found the marriage record of William Bowen & Rebecca Evans listed in the "Pickaway cty. marriage Records 1810-1862" they were married Aug. 1836. But I couldn`t find any land records. Now thanks to Patsy and the OHFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com I have a new location to search when I make my annual visit north. I plan on visiting sometime in July. I would really be interested in finding out more about why they left Ohio and how it came about that the marriages were in different counties and where they were prior to being in Ohio. I did notice in the land records that some of there neighbors are the same as the ones in Indiana so it seems as though they may have traveled as a group. I hope those answers come as easy as the questions but some how I doubt it.......BILL Bowen Bill Bowen http://www.interaccess.net/~wcb
