Actually, even if you use the credit card option, the National Archives will only automatically send the "$10 standard package." If the file is much larger, they will send you a note advising you of the number of pages and the cost. You then have the option of ordering the remaining pages. I've had two ancestors that had very large files, and NARA followed this procedure both times. This is standard procedure according to Claire Prechtel-Kluskens, archivist at NARA.
