To obtain pension records for Civil War veteran you need to obtain NATF Form 80 and fill it out and mail it in to the address in Wash. D. C that is on the form. You need to know the name of the Veteran (of course), the state from which he served and of course whether he served for the union or Confederates. That is all necessary, additional help but not necessary is unit in which he served Iname of regiment or number, company etc.) If service was Army , if it was infantry, Cavalry, or Artillery, if he was an officer or enlisted nad if he was volunteers or regulars. The cost for all the copies is $10 only if they find records for your veteran. You do not mail the money with the application, they will notify you if they find records then you will mail them a check or money order. The option is you give a credit card number when you mail the form in and if they find records they will charge your card and mail the records to you. The last option is faster and is the one I use. Maybe someone else will come on and tell us where you can obtain NATF Form 80. I obtain mine from the Branch of the Nat'l Archives when I go to do census work. Hope this will help somewhat.
