Hello MAURER searchers; I am Carl MOURY and I was asked to write to the list, and explain about my familly and what I have heard from some of the older folks. I was told by some of the older family members at some of the reunions that our name came from Germany, spelled MAURER, and when the families came over from germany to the new world or the USA they changed their name spelling to MOURY/MOWRY/MOWERY there may be more spellings than that, but know body knew of any more. I am just wondering if there is anybody out there that might know anymore about this name changes? Might there be some one that might be doing the research on my name as now? I do have the name of MOURY/MOWERY on my search. My brother and I think that when the folks came over they migrated either in W Va. or S.Carolina or maybe in N. Carolina. But any how they were in Ohio when we started this family tree. The home place where we found the most of the relatives are in Lancaster, Ohio. But from different twps.
