Hi! I am new to this list, and fairly new to genealogy research. I never knew my father's people, not even their names, until I started searching old records 3 years ago. My great-grandparents and other relatives lived in Fairfield Co. Ohio in the early 1800's...and I imagine some of their descendents still do. My great grandfather was Lemente(Lemont, Lemoyne, Lemunday) Eckert, b in Fairfield Co. about 1806-10. He was the son of Jacob L. Eckert and Catharine (Kitty) Shellenbarger, who are buried in the Crawfis-Emery Cemetery in FF Co. His wife was Nancy VanTries, b in Lancaster Co. Pa, daughter of Isaac and Mary Vantries. Carol Swinehart has been a tremendous help to me, in my search. I can't say enough about her kindness and her expertise. I would love to hear from anyone there who is descended from, related to, or has any information about ANY Eckerts. Thanks!
