Fairfield County, Ohio Probate Court Estate case #1588 Jacob Shoemaker will In the name of God, Amen I Jacob Shoemaker of Fairfield County in the State of Ohio, being in good health and of a sound mind - do make and publish this my last will and testament. 1st) It is my will that all my just debts, funeral expenses and costs of administration be paid out of my of my personal estate by my Executor herein after named. 2 ly) I leave and bequeath unto my dear wife Magdalena Shoemaker four hundred dollars in money out of my personal estate, also such part of my household & kitchen furniture, bed and beding (sic) and livestock as she may think proper to select and keep out of my personal estate - during her natural life and after her decease my will is that all the said money and property, or so much thereof as may be left, shall pass over and be equally divided amongst my four daughters herein after named - and further I leave and bequeath unto my said dear wife the five acres of Shugar (sic) camp being part of the South-east quarter of Section 19 in Township 12 in Range 20 in said County during her natural life and after her decease my will is that the said five acres shall pass over and be the property of my son Daniel Shoemaker herein after named - also my wish is that the quarter section of land whereon I now reside, being the NW 1/4 of Section No. 32, T12 in Range 20 which myself and wife have sold and conveyed unto my said son Daniel - by indenture under date the 18th day of January 1826. That my said dear wife may reside thereon during her natural life -agreeably to a written contract to that effect with the said Daniel. 3 ly) In consideration of the land and other property that I have already gave unto my son Henry Shoemaker I leave and bequeath unto my said son Henry my large Bible, my fanmill(?), harrow and crosscut saw. 4 ly) In consideration of the land and other property which I have already gave unto my son Daniel his heirs and assigns forever the Shugar (sic) camp of five acres before mentioned - being part of the Southeast quarter of Section No. 19 T12 in Range No. 20 situate (sic) in said County under the encumberance (sic) of his mother as aforesaid - also I leave and bequeath unto my said son Daniel one bay mare, my waggon (sic) and one set of horse gears and my two large books. 5 ly) In consideration of the monies and other property which I have already gave unto my four daughters, Magdalena, Catharine, Mary and Rebecca, I leave and bequeath unto them my said four daughters equally between them all the rest and remainder of my personal estate to be divided between them forthwith after my decease also the money and other property left to my dear wife as aforesaid or so much thereof as my be left at the time of her decease. I leave and bequeath unto my said four daughters equally between them - and my wish is that there be no public sale made of my personal property but divided between my said four daughters as aforesaid by lot by two disinterested men say John Valentine and David Kinnear. 6 ly) And lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my dear son the said Henry Shoemaker to be the sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal, this sixth day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty nine. Jacob Schumacher (signature in German) Witness present: David Kinnear, Johannes Zehrung Note: This will was presented in court by Henry Shoemaker 20 September 1836. The only other papers in the estate packet are papers pertaining to the examination of the witnesses. The will is also transcribed in Will Book 2, page 85. This is not my family and I have no other information. Jacob was supposedly married to Magdalena Reichelderfer and was born in Berks Co, PA 10 Oct 1757.
