I am researching my ancestor Joseph PHILLIPS who immigrated to Fairfield Co. in 1828 from Alsace, France. I am interested in learning about any other Alsatian immigrants to Fairfield County. Others that I have come across in my research are Conrad WINTER (1780 - 1844) and his wife Elizabeth WEBER (1790-1863), and Francis Anthony STECK (1806 - 1883) and his wife Magdeline BUECHLER (b. 1807). All families lived in Berne Twp. I would be interested in sharing information with other descendants of Alsatian immigrants. If you are uncertain as to whether your ancestor came from Alsace, if the individual had a German name and gave "France" as his place of birth, chances are he was Alsatian. Sheila Rider
