My husband is related to the Motsches through the Betz line. Johan Philip Betz was the brother of his immigrant ancestor Johan Frederick Betz. Johan Philip Betz b. 15 Sep 1823 Eichtersheim, now Angelbachtal came to America May 1848 and located in Lancaster, OH m. 23 Mar 1851 to Wilhelmina Rache (d. 11 May 1892 St. Peter's Records) Note: the Fairfield County Chapter of OGS has published the St. Peter's Records. Philip became naturalized on 12 Oct 1854. He died 24 Nov 1881 58-1-29 (murdered in downtown Lancaster by Herman Peter. He had been the proprietor of the Betz House, a frame hotel in Lancaster, OH (it burned) Children Elisabeth A. Frederick Motsch d. 8 Nov 1899 on 6 Jun 1875 Augusta's son was living with Aunt in 1900. ch: Karl F.W. Motsch b. 19 Oct 1876 Ft Wayne, IN d. 30 Apr 1945 68-6-11 (Lot 126, A, Gr. S1 Forest Rose Cemetery. Married 20 Jun 1905 by Rev. Mechlin to Julia A. Miller b. 1 Feb 1827 d/o George Degrummond and Eliza Morey Charles W. was a foreman for the G.C. Godman Co. in 1930 when he and Julia lived at 1150 N COlumbus St Charles W's estate #21713 lists a step-son, William D. Miller bca 1898. In 1945 William D. Miller lived at 116 1/2 Offnere St, Portsmouth, OH Lillian D. Motsch b 12 Dec 1878 m. 30 Oct 1906 to Charles Edward Vagnier (bur. Forest Rose Cem) in 1919 married to Mr. Brecht lived in Oxnard, CA Herbert William Motsch b. 3 Jul 1889, bp 3 Oct 1894 d. 13 May 1950 m. 25 Oct 1907 to Carrie Francis Thomas d. 9 Aug 1965 Herbert was executor for Fredericka Betz's estate. Both are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery I have the five children of Herbert plus some grandchildren also. If you need the rest of Herberts heirs let me know.
