That certainly was not my intention. I did credit the information source, and tried to encourage list-readers to order their own book, by giving them Carol's email address and suggesting they contact her. I am a relative newcomer to genealogy research, compared to many of you. When I started researching my father's people 3 years ago, I had no idea where to start. However, due to the kindness of many total strangers, and chance bits and pieces of information they have given to me, I have progressed from not being sure of my grandparents names and not knowing the names of my father's siblings, to as far back as details of my gggg grandparents, and possibly the ship he came here on in 1731. It was only because of the willingness of so many kind strangers to provide me with pieces of information, that I was able to accomplish this. Naively, I just assumed that all genealogy researchers help each other in this way, because that has been my personal experience. I am a 72 year old handicapped person, on a limited income, at this time also undergoing chemotherapy for Lymphoma. I could not have afforded to purchase all the publications from the various areas where my ancestors lived. (Pennsylvania and several areas in Ohio). I only invested in this book because the majority of my ancestors seemed to have lived in Fairfield County for a number of years. I suppose I just take it for granted that there must be many other people like myself out there, who also could not afford to buy a book just to research one or two "stray" ancestors. It never was my intention, nor did I even consider the possibility, that my offer could hurt your organization in any way. I have only received several requests, and perhaps those persons who received information from your book (from me) might wish to send a donation to your Society as a token of their appreciation...or, order a copy of this excellent book for their own reference source. If they appreciated the information I sent them, I suggest that this is what they do. Would you give us an address to which they may write to the FF Chapter of the OGS? And perhaps a list (with prices) of the books and publications which you have available for purchase? I trust this will explain my offer, and the good intentions with which I made it. I was just trying to pass on the kindnesses I have received from others. Sincerely, Virginia Eckert O'Shea
