NS Children of George Nicholaus Smither/Schmetter & Anna Louise Nothstein: #2 Margaret Smethers (Smithers) SMOTHERS b: ABT 1768 PA md1 Henry Gumber md2 ? Earl According to the will of father of George Smothers Sr. Margaret must have been married to an Earl was deceased prior to his death in 1825 She died before 1825 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.25 In Case #435 of the estate of her father George Smothers, heirs included the heirs of his daughter, Margaret Earl -- Catharine Rader, Henry Burman and George Rader, Sr.. This indicates that Maragret had died by the time the will was written in 1825. It seems that EARL was her married name, but it could have been a middle name. In either case, it does not explain why her heirs had the last names of BURMAN and RADER. It's unlikely that Mr. Earl was their father. Also note that the was a marriage for Margaret SMETHERS to Henry GUMBER in Dec. 1820 in Fairfield Co., Ohio, according to the book Early Fairfield County Marriages: 1801-1826. I haven't found any other Margaret SMETHERS/SMOTHERS/etc. that fit this time frame. If Margaret's husband at the time of her death was Mr. EARL, it seems she was married briefly, prior to her marriage to EARL. Since none of her heirs bore the EARL of GUMBER names is seems that her heirs may have been her step children. She would not have had any children who were of age. She was married to Henry GUMBER in Dec 1820 in Fairfield Co., Ohio. The "Ye Ancient Swains" lists Peggy SMETTERS as the wife of Henry GUMBER. We are assuming that Peggy is short for Margaret. She was married to _____? EARL between 1820 and 1825. #7. Christina (Smithers) SMOTHERS b: ABT 1784 Salem Twp Luzerne Co., PA md Frederick Mongul Christena SMETHERS was born about 1784 in Luzerne twp. (Salem Co.), Pennsylvania. Christina apparently left her husband and married someone else. ?? She was married to _____? MONGUL (MONGOLD) before 1825 in Ohio?. # 9. Catharine (Smithers) SMOTHERS b ABT 1792 PA md Jacob Radar DEC 1811 Fairfield Co, OH. Catharine SMETHERS was born about 1792 in Pennsylvania. Catherine SMOTHERS is listed in the International Genealogical Index, but no death date it given. It is unclear if she is listed in the will of her father. His wife's name is given as Catherine, although no records have been found so far indicating that his former wife Barbara was dead. She was married to _____?
