    1. Re: What happened to Arthur Hensel (b. abt 1876)? Fairfield County, Ohio
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hensel Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2VB.2ACE/434.1.1.1 Message Board Post: William George Hensel b 26 Sep 1856 died in 1887 and is buried in Lithopolis Cem., Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH. He was baptised 12 Jul 1857 at Trinity Lutheran, Marcy/Ashville, Ohio, in Pickaway County. He was the s/o Charles and Catharine Barbara (HAY) HENSEL. I have this information because they resided at least at one time in Bloom township, in which I have had a website for a number of years now. I don't have a wife down for William. If this is your William, and his last visible census was 1880 when he was in Bloom township, and he was buried there as well, then whatever child he had would most likely have been born there. However... something is wrong here. If 'my' William is the same as 'your' William, he is shown as single and living with his parents in 1880 as a 23 year old laborer. You said he had a son about 1876 named Arthur. Did he have it out of wedlock? Did they get divorced? Something seems a bit fishy about all this. If you're intent about finding more info about Arthur, I think I'd start at the beginning and definitely not take anything you see on the internet as gospel. Just yesterday I found someone who had submitted info to the LDS that is just packed full of errors, especially with death locations and birth locations. I'd also look at that other Arthur I mentioned. See if you can find a birth record on Arthur. I think the Arthur who I found in the 1880 census in Liberty twp. had a brother Gabe, and Gabe named one of his own sons Arthur, (sometimes shown as Basil Arthur). Lots of Arthurs! My website is at http://www.foorgenealogy.com/gene.html if you want to see what I have on those Hensel's. I didn't have the 1870 census stuff in the ' notes' section yet, but here it is: CENSUS: 1870 Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH, p 28 HENSEL, Charles, 43y farmer b Baden ", Catherine, 38y keeping house b PA ", William G., works on farm, 13y b OH ", Mary A., dau 12y attending school b OH ", Martin L., 9y attending school b OH ", Edwin C., 6y attending school b OH ", Charley M., 1y at home b OH ", Jacob, 80y infirm b Baden The other census extractions are listed below each individual in the searchable database.
