No, but my mother-in-law's family was from that area and she had extensive research on the family. She also researched for others and when she died I inherited all of her information but it was not organized and when we moved it was still in boxes and I have just recently started organizing it. I do live in Ohio, just not in Lancaster but I do have family there. Raymond, I have started looking through information on the Koon/Coon/Koontz/Coons family but so far I have not found anything that might help. I do have a Samuel & a Jacob but I don't believe they are yours. I have some files that have information that is not in this family tree so I will look and see if I can find anything there that could help you. It may be a few days before I get the information together. What do the numbers behind the names represent? Are there any dates associated with these names? I'm looking for any transactions before George and Samuel Coon bought land in 1813. I am trying to find out where the family (three adult brothers Jacob, Samuel, and George plus a woman I believe to be their mother - Hannah/Hanna/Johanna, plus whoever the father was) lived prior to 1813. Wherever it was, it was more likely owned by the boys' father. That's who I'm trying to find. Two clues suggest that they lived in Clearcreek Twp somewhere. Trouble is, I think the area they lived in may have been in Pickaway County at that time or maybe Ross. Further complicating things, they may have been squatters, and there may be no record at all. The first official record I have of the family being in Fairfield is the marriage of George Coon to Mary Burket North in 1808 in Clearcreek. This, of course, doesn't prove he lived in Clearcreek, only that the marriage was in Clearcreek. The obituary of the oldest son, born a year after the wedding, says he was born in Pickaway County. I also have this from my notes regarding the brother of Mary Burket North: "JOSEPH NORTH, 1805 BIRTH March 18, 1805 Clear Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio in the area of Ohio which became Pickaway County but was Fairfield County at the time of Joseph's birth (Pickaway Co., formed in 1810)" This along with William Coon's (1809) birthplace being listed as Pickaway Co, OH may establish that they lived in Pickaway Co prior to moving to Fairfield County in 1813 or that a boundary changed." Any help appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You can also use this website for looking up Federal Land Patents, I have used it many times and you can also print to actual copies or you can purchase certified copies. I just read on the site they have added field notes. This is notes the surveyors wrote sometime mentioning the names of area settlers in the area and other interesting facts. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ Marjorie ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <OHFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 7:10 PM Subject: [OHFAIRFI] Lookup - Ohio Lands, Chillicothe Land Office, by MT Clark > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: RaymondCoon46 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.fairfield/1411/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Is there someone who can do a lookup for me in "Ohio Lands Chillicothe > Land Office", by Marie Taylor Clark, C. If not, I have the Fairfield Co., OH Grantee index A-K on microfilm on indefinite loan. Also have a Grantor index, but it only covers letters A-F. That would be Clearcreek Twp, Fairfield County. Or, because of boundary changes it may be Saltcreek Twp, Pickaway County. Trying to tie up a few loose ends in our Chism genealogy: According to info I have found Meredith D.B. Chism married Anne Elizabeth Kraner on/about October 8, 1867 in Fairfield County. This marriage produced a daughter named Clara (Callie) A. Chism born in 1869. Can find no record of divorce, but find Meredith D.B. Chism marrying Mary M. Gettes in August 1873 in Fairfield County. This marriage produced 4 children: Clarence V., Indus L.; a stillborn infant son; and Lyda AnnaBelle. I have info on all these children and their families. Trying to find out more about "Callie". Found a marriage for her to a John Boyer but no date and no other information. Interested in CHISM surname in Fairfield County and Licking County. Thank you. Sue Chism

They lived with the Peck family in Grove Port in the 1940's for a while. I have school pictures with my husband and the whole class. We are trying to find out where the Peck line comes into the Kidder Line? My mother-in-laws mother was Roxie Cozart. If anyone is working on the Peck family or knows of a possible connection, would you please email me at patriciagrimm2001@yahoo.com. It may be through Neva, and I can't find her maiden name.
