    3. Dear Lane Researcher, In reply to your recent post, I am descended from Wilkinson Lane, who was born in Baltimore Co., MD and died in Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio. The only Jesse Lane (married in Kentucky) I have in my data base is the son of Lambert Lane. Greenbury would be an Anne Arundel Co., MD name. Good luck and keep us posted. 1. [OHFAIRFI] James Reat
    2. Hello, I am hoping that someone can help. I have learned that I have a great great grandfather who moved to Ohio from Maryland around 1810. He had a son who had a son. CONFUSED, I AM. Ok, Great Great Great Grandfather's name was James Reat. He moved to Maryland from Scotland and had several children: He came to the states around 1775-1785. His wife is unknown. children are: John Reat b est. 1769-1813 Robert Reat b. 1769-1813 James Jr Reat b. 1779-1808 Susan Reat b 1769-1813 Milta Reat 1769-1813 Margaret Reat est. 1769-1813 Hugh Reat b. 1792 in Frederick County Maryland. >From the information I can tell they were born either in Maryland or Ohio. James Reat Sr. passed away around 1810. I would like to get some information on where he is buried or if possible some type of record of his death. The second request I have is that i am trying to locate the birth record of Robert Clark Reat son of Jame Reat JR. I think he may have been born in Clearwater Creek Fairfield County. I thought I had seen a record showing page 279. If I am correct how to I get a copy of his birth record or some form of information regarding his birth. Robert Clark Reat was born November 2, 1828 according to the family bible. Any help is appreciated.

    2. Rebecca C. Huddle
    3. Rereading the "A History of the Welsheimer Family" by Edith L. WELSCHEIMER, I Found she listed a second WESHEIMER Cemetery: "Daniel [WELSHEIMER], his wife Margaret, and several children were buried in a little private cemetery on the farm [his farm in Amanda Twp.] It seems that the farm was sold with the understanding that the cemetery, fenced at the time of sale, was to be kept up and not disturbed. Since Daniel's family had moved away, the agreement was broken, and the knoll on which the cemetery was located became the site for a new house. It was said that the tombstones were used for steps and stepping stones. ... A number of years before the cemetery was violated, David P. DEAN [grandson of Philip WELSHEIMER] on a visit to Ohio, had gone to all the private cemeteries belonging to the family and had copied the inscriptions on the monuments. Those for Daniel's family are listed below: Daniel WELSHIMER d. 16 Oct 1870 aged 77yrs Margaret WELSHIMER d 27 Jun 1849, aged 42yrs Harriet WELSHIMER d 17 Oct 1817 aged 11mo Elizabeth WELSHIMER d 16 Sep 1822, aged -- Daniel WELSHIMER d.17 Jun 1849, aged -- John WELSHIMER d 8 Aug 1854, aged 5yr." In the Preface of her book, Edith stated that although the book was published in 1969, most of the research was done from 1930 to 1933. Rebecca C. Huddle

    3. While I don't have info immediately at hand, a good place to start is at the Library, in the History Room. They have a fairly complete collection of the Lancaster City Directory. This is how we started with our home and learned not just the names, but the occupations as well. The city directory generally allows you to look up a location by address, though some of the older ones don't do this. Fortunately the residence listings for your time period aren't overwhelming. In our case, we took a 1914 directory and started scanning every page until we found our address. After that it was easy, once we had a family name. We were even able to track down descendants and get in touch with them to learn more about the house. Hope this helps.
