John E. Lane married Barbara Ellen Crist, and this is my Crist line. The Barbara Ellen Crist letters held at Bloomington, Indiana university archives contains several from John E. Lane to Barbara Ellen. during the Civil War. They were donated by their grand sons the Shanks. I have some copies mostly of Milton Crists to Barbara Ellen, and an inventory of the rest. There are 50 letters. I was given papers indicating I could not use them in publication unless I paid $75, and if in a family genealogy $25. But if John E. Lane was my ancestor, I would go to Bloomington and read them. Margaret Crist Calvin >Have you seen this about John E Lane, of Fairfield Co.
