Paul and Marguerite, There are no Wolfs at all in the Jacob Wolfe Cemetery. Nor are there any MUMY/ MOOMA/MUMAUGHS. It is very small and there's only a GEORGE Peters and a GEORGE Moore. No other Georges. I don't know why it is called the Jacob Wolfe Cemetery. Jacob Wolfe is buried in the following: In the WOLF/WOLFE/WOOLF cemetery which is not far away, all the burials are those of Wolfes or married Wolfe daughters and their babies. There are two BARBARY Wolfes (as Barbara was commonly spelled then) in this cemetery. The Clearcreek Cemeteries book lists these two(?) women, whose graves are both in Row 4 with four spaces between them, as: *Wolfe [Wolf], Barbary [wife of Peter], died 1837 [born June 1, 1793, died July 2, 1837] *Wolfe (Wolf) Barbary, wife of Peter Jr., died [June 1] 1837 [1832] (1832) , [aged 43 y 10m 26d] (which would make her birth date about 1793 or about 1788, depending on which is her correct birthdate. Same person??? Anyway, this is the Barbary who is buried beside Peter (Jr.) The brackets [ ] are from the reading of Ardena Burke. Carol Bay Bussert gave the 1980 reading that is shown in parentheses ( ) when it is additional information or when the information she read differs from the Burke reading. Peter Wolfe Sr. (b. abt 1740) who died and was buried in 1790 in Cumberland Co (now Franklin Co) PA was married to a Dorithia Burke. Peter Sr. never came to Ohio. His wife Dorithia did come to Ohio, presumably with her sons between 1806 and 1812, and she is buried in the Wolf(e)/Woolf Cemetery. She is the mother of Peter Wolf Jr. and several other siblings of Peter Jr. (The other two sons I am aware of are Valentine Wolf, and William Wolf. Valentine's wife was Mary Dern Hedges Rice and they are buried in Perry Twp. of Hocking Co, though they lived in Madison Twp. of Fairfield Co. I don't know the name of William's wife or where he is buried. This is a small cemetery where only closely related Wolf family are buried. Why there are two Barbarys is a mystery to me. And both of them died about a month apart in the summer of 1837. Peter Jr. definitely married one of them. His dates are 1787-1853. Another source says, " On 7 Nov 1819 he (Peter Jr.) married Barbary <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/barbary-family-history.ashx> MOTNEY/MUMMA?, in Fairfield Co <http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.connecticut.counties.fairfield/mb.ashx>, Oh. She was born on 6 Jul 1793 in Pa? died in Clearcreek Twp., Fa. Co., Oh on 1 Jun 1837." Peter Jr. had a number of sons, one of them also named Peter, but this Peter was married to an Elizabeth and was born much later (1830) and would be a Peter Wolfe III? I do hope someone can clear up this mystery? By they way, nearby Lancaster has a well-known historic home, known as the Mumaugh Memorial. It is (and I quote from the website) is thought to be the oldest brick structure still standing in the state of Ohio.In 1817 the first Catholic Mass was said in the original brick structure owned at the time by Michael Garaghty..John Mumaugh purchased the house in 1857. I cannot find more information on the Mumaughs in my cemetery books, but there is an index to the transcribed cemeteries of Fairfield Co at http://www.fairfieldgenealogy.org/research/cem.html Lynn Scheu roundup@2020comm.net wrote: > Hi Marguerite > Thanks for the information. > I was hoping I would find George Mumy [mumey/moma/moomey/mooney Mooma ect ] > died March 1828. Does anyone have any information on Ellen (?Hannah) Dean? She married Joseph Young in Fairfield or Hocking County, Ohio around 1867/68. I have some information that says she was the daughter of James Dean and Lovina Moore. Her Mother Lovina Moore later married Simon Brockman. James was supposed to have left the family. Ellen Dean Young was living in Lancaster in the 1930 Census with her granddaughter Anna Maria Young. I have been sent a copy of Joseph Young's obituary (Stoutsville Notes) and wonder if anyone might know where I could find her obituary. Thanking you in advance.Laura Bergersen _________________________________________________________________ Stay up to date on your PC, the Web, and your mobile phone with Windows Live. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp1020093185mrt/direct/01/

Hi Paul I was doing some research on www.findagrave.com when I got your email. Wolf Cemetery was not listed, but it did give a map. The cemetery is on Heigle Rd. SW, between Dozer Rd. SW (closer to Dozer) and 16 Rd SW in stoutsville, Fairfield, Ohio. i am searching for Young, Dean and Stout in that area. Lots of luck in your search. She married James Fife in Baltimore, Maryland 10-21-1821. James was from north of Pittsburgh, PA. They remained in the Baltimore area for about 10 years mitgrating to Carroll County, Ohio. By 1837 they were the parents of 7 sons and one daughter, James died in 1838 in Washington Twp., Carroll County, Ohio. All eight of the children and Hester went to Van Wert County after purchasing land grants. Their farms were located in Hoaglin Twp., Van Wert County, Ohio and some family members still farm there. The daughter is my line. I have located and connected all 8 children, through the library in Fort Wayne, Indiana and obits at the Van Wert Library. My brick wall is Hester. James's family history is very clear, but the connection to Baltimore isn't. The Fife Family stayed in an area together until 2 sons went to Iowa and the youngest child, Thomas Lee Fife and wife went to Kansas. The daughter married Zenas Norris's son, Jesse Townsend Norris and upon her death, he married a niece of a sister-in-law of his first wife. A grandson of Jesse, Elmer, came to Fairfield County in 1907. The Norris Family has many connections to Baltimore, MD and the surrounding area. I have connected the generations back to Congham, England and Thomas Noreys arriving in Talbot County, MD and changing the spelling to Norris. Now to find Hester's heritage. I haven't done research on Boyer but am very interested in the Maryland connection. There were a good many lines came from Maryland to Fairfield co OH area. I have traced many from Berks co PA but not so much luck with Maryland. I am especially interested in any MILLER lines that came through maryland to Ohio and to Iowa. Though there may be family connection in Iowa, there is always the possibility they were neighbors from Maryland too. I have found this many times in my research. Just a thought. Thank you both for the great help. Obviously this marriage is for another John Berry because the John whose household includes Catharine Deeds much younger. The IGI has two other possible marriages for John Berry to an Elizabeth in Fairfield County--neither appears to have any connection to the Deeds family of my interest: John Berry and Elizabeth Close 25 DEC 1831 John Berry and Elizabeth Blazier 23 FEB 1847 (The census has older children so this would have to be a later marriage.) Again, thank you for the help. This has been interesting because I descend from another prominent Beary/Bieri Family that lived in Lehigh County, PA, then skipped over Ohio to Indiana, Iowa, then MO.
