Found a Lawrence E. Unger in State of Washington in 1910, 1920 and 1930 census. Lists as from Ohio but with a dob of about 1875. His ww1 draft reg. card lists dob as 11/29/1875 but not where and the middle name of Earl. It also says he has damage to left hand and arm. Found a Washington death list for 5/31/1957. So far can't find a matching Lawrence Unger in Ohio. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Several of this Unger family (Peter and Amanda's) ended up in Van Wert and Paulding Counties. I didn't realize Nathan and Eliza did also. I had assumed Lawrence was their child since he is listed as their son in the 1880 census. I know she said she had no children in 1900. Perhaps he had died and there was some miscommunication with the census taker or something. I would be interested in finding out if Bertha was adopted from a family member or not. I've been looking for a Samuel Coon of Fairfield County, OH for years. My Samuel was a brother of my GGGGrandfather George Coon, also of Fairfield Co., OH from about 1808 until about 1840. I have land records of Samuel and his wife making land purchase and sales up until about 1840, and then they just disappeared. Do you happen to know if Samuel's wife's name was Elizabeth North? This item would not have been conclusive since life at that time was pretty hard on wives and Elizabeth may have died and Samuel married again. I have more information. Contact me and we'll see if we have a match. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. When their farm sold, they and Hoddy's daughter Mary Lou moved to Florida. Since then both Don and Hoddy have died and are buried in Union Grove Cemetery, Canal Winchester, Ohio. Several additions were added to the log cabin through the years. Hoddy ran a beauty shop in the addition immediately behind the log cabin, and later was joined by Don and Hoddy's daughter, Shirley, in running the beauty shop. The log cabin faced Diley Road, west of Busey Road. Don's parents were Henry, Jr and Ruth Burgoon Root. Siblings of Don were Williard, Samuel, and John. Henry Sr. parents migrated from Maryland. Henry Sr. children were Emma, Charles, James, John Alva, and Henry Jr. I don't believe this was the Root homeplace because as a young family, Henry Jr and Ruth lived in Pickerington with Henry Sr. and Matilda Root on the farm that later Williard Root plotted in the Root Addition to Pickerington. Hope this helps. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
