I will list the Americanized spelling, the German spelling, and their place of origin in Germany. If anyone knows anything about these names, the German villages, or why they immigrated to Fairfield Co. I would enjoy hearing from you. Conversely, I will share my information. Does anyone know if the Mount Vernon College of Ohio is still in existence or what became of it? I had an ancestor Simon P. Benadom born in 1826 near Lancaster who's father was a professor there. I assumed it was in Fairfield Co., but perhaps not. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate hearing. Many thanks, Karla P.S. I live in California so research in Ohio is a little long distance as it is for many of you.

Dorothy, Do you have any descendants from the John Ruff you mention in your note? If so I would be interested. By the way I do have the Rushcreek Twp. Cem. Book, so will check it when I get off here. Thank you for your response. Darleen Ritchey Berens
Marilyn, I am just now getting started working the line of Truby/Ruff, so I don't have a Rebecca Truby as yet, but will keep you in mind if I find anything. Getting this info from a book put out by a Truby descendant in 1987 and I hook into them in PA, but just found the info about the Ruff's coming to Lancaster and that just happens to be where my Mom's people are from. The Ruff/Truby's are on my Dad's side of PA. Thank you for your response. Darleen Ritchey Berens
I am looking for any help with descendants of John RUFF and Elizabeth TRUBY b. ca 1765 in PA and came to what they called New Lancaster around Columbus ca 1804 or 1805. What year was Fairfield Co. formed? They came from Westmoreland Co., PA along with Elizabeth's sister Catherine TRUBY ROHRER b. 1763 in PA and her 2nd husband John MARSHALL b. 1762. The story goes that Catherine & John MARSHALLl died from a "fever" in the summer of 1806 in Fairfield Co. and left 4 children who were taken back to PA by another sister of Elizabeth TRUBY RUFF and Cath. TRUBY MARSHALL. John RUFF and Eliz. TRUBY RUFF remained in Fairfield Co. Any help out there for the above Ruff family? Thank you. Darleen Ritchey Berens
