    2. Patricia Bogel
    3. While researching at our library, I came across a "Membership Ancestor Index of The Fairfield County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society" prepared in 1985. In it is the name of Helen L. Bishop whose ancestor is EGOLF which is one of my lines. My question, is Helen still a member of the society and is her address as listed in this information correct? Thanks. Pat in Fort Wayne

    3. Hi all am new to this list so I wanted to post the surnames I am researching from Fairfield Cty. My main one is Thomas Bowen I found records that prove he was in Fairfield Cty. prior to 1836 I found a marriage record of his daughter Hannah to Ozias Barnes March 15, 1832. And also found marriage record of his son William to Rebecca Evans which took place in August 08, 1836 in Pickaway CO. Ohio. Thomas's wifes name was Annah, and I think her maiden name may have been Needles (Needels) I have not proven this but would sure like to. I know that after they left Fairfield Cty. they moved to Blackford Cty Indiana and I pretty much have been able to follow them and their descendants from there. What I am trying to do is find out where they were prior to Fairfield and how they came to be in Fairfield. I haven't been able to connect them with any land in that area. Would sure appreciate any help you may have. Also would like to invite you to visit my HomePage at http://www.interaccess.net/~wcb if you make connections with any surnames please contact me at wcb@interaccess.net THANKS BILL BOWEN Bill Bowen http://www.interaccess.net/~wcb

The marriage record seems to call the groom Nathaniel, but the land records say Nicholas. Nicholas and Drusilla Rodgers/Rogers seem to have had these seven children, (Though there is a large range of birth dates): Sarah b. about 1820, Catherine b. about 1822, Elizabeth Rogers b. about 1824, Abigail b. about 1827, Margaret b. about 1831, Robert b. about 1840, and Caroline Rodgers/Roger b. about 1843. Jacob & Nancy had several other children who were also still alive at the time of Alfred Melancthon's death, but they were NOT listed as his siblings! His death certificate (information given by his dtr. Pearl (MECHLING) TURNER) , list "Jacob" as his father, mother "unknown". A "family story" says that his mother "...was the little French girl on the next(?) farm..." How much validity might this have?? I cannot find any. The Perry Co OH will and estate papers of Margaret (MECHLING) SHELLY [wife of George SHELLY}, lists Alfred MECHLING of Ada OH, as her nephew. This would have to be Alfred Melancthon, because of the location - the other Alfred resided in Indiana. Margaret was the d/o Peter & Mary (DOWNOUR) MECHLING, making her a sister to the above Jacob D. MECHLING. Deducting from this information, it appears that Jacob D. MECHLING had an affair shortly before his marriage, a child resulted, who became named, Alfred Melancthon MECHLING. Might the mother have been in the Joseph & Catharine (WINEGARDNER) SNIDER extended family -- is that why he was residing with them? He was not their son. Any suggestions, comments, or leads on this "stone wall" will be GREATLY appreciated!! Caral MECHLING BENNETT cmechlingb@aol.com

    1. Searching
    2. Hello: I am searching for any and all data on my Grandparents, Edward A.Brown,B:Sept,15, 1868; D: Sept 20,1920, and wife Margaret Louise Thimmes Brown, b:Jan 18,1869; D: June 24,1934. Both of their death certificates states they are buried in Lancaster.(Margaret's says St.Marys Cemetery). However, can't find out where they really are buried as church cemetery records are not available, and funeral homes say they have no records for that period in time. Are there any Thimmes or Brown family members still in that area that are doing their own genealogy and have run into these names in their lineage somewhere????? If so, Please write me as I need your help. I also need help with my GGrandfather, George H.Brown who is buried out at St Mary's cemetery. His wife was Anna Rebecca Brown. I need her maiden name and haven't been able to get it. The probate records are skimpy for the mid-1800's period. I appreciate any help any of you can give me. Perhaps some of you have cemetery name books that you'd check out for me for Edward and Margaret. Gwen

    3. To Carol Swihart, Carol I have tried to send you a message using your E-mail address of "cshart@greenapple.com" and my messages are undeliverable. Can you give me any clues? I am getting the Digest just fine. Also I would like to know if there is any way to get the first "Digest's" My digest starts with Issue #7 and I would like very much to get #1 thru 6. Maybe three at a time since Juno does not take real long messages. Regards Shirley
