Does anyone have history of Fairfield County's Toby Town and early settlers of that area? I am under the impression that my William Brown & family arrived in the Toby Town area in 1799 with Wilkinson Lane, Horatio Clark and Cole families out of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. November 14, 1805 William Brown obtained 320 acres in todays Section 23 of Pickaway County (then Franklin County). Would like to know if anyone has any connection with the Kramer/Slife family.Catherine Kramer dau of John Kramer and Catherine Bressler b. 24 Feb 1806 married Henry Slife. One of their children is buried in the Kramer Graveyard, Madison Co. Does anyone know what happened to this family. Thanks Sue Kramer

Dear Friends, I am requesting that discussion on this listserv return to that of Fairfield County history and genealogy. I apologize to everyone for any message sent on my behalf but not sent by me. As far as I am concerned, any problem between Mr. Crane and I was settled very early on without the intervention of anyone else. My father's family spent most of the 1800's in Fairfield & Hocking county, and I am trying to get more of a feel of the area at that time, as well as information about my relatives. In particular: Sarah Ann (SHAW) Sheets taught at "School #6" - probably in either Berne Tp of Fairfield Co or Marion Tp of Hocking Co - about 1860-1865. (I believe her students included BREHM, BRICKER, BROWN, BUTTERWORTH, FEWELL, FEWELL, FOX, HAMILTON, HEFT, HEIDLEBAUGH, IMBODEN, JOHNSON, MASTON, MYERS, and ZWICKLE children). Does anyone know exactly where that school was? Is there a photo of that school in any of the local histories, or elsewhere? Or a list of the teachers? Also: Sarah had several GARRISON grandchildren: Cyril and Ward, and possibly Ola (Garrison?) RITTGERS. I know of only two SHEETS children, Harriet and Erwin. Perhaps Harriet "Hattie" Sheets married a Mr. Garrison, probably about 1890 before she married Joseph ANSEL (their children: Ora and Murl). If not, there must be another daughter I don't know about. Can anyone with information about the ANSEL, GARRISON, RITTGERS, or SHEETS families help me out? Bert Shaw, Portland OR
