Hannah (1840-1852) Died after falling on a hard floor. 8. Mary Catherine (1841-1906) 9. Daniel Kane (b. abt 1844)Nothing more known of him. 10. George Strode (b. abt 1847)Nothing more known of him. 11. Thomas Addison (b. abt 1851) Died in California. I am primarily interested in any information on any of the children that I have no further information on but, of course, will welcome any information. Also, is Walnut Creek still running in the area? I appreciate any help! Sean Pugh spugh@onebellevue.com

    1. [OHFAIRFI-L] History of Fairfield Co.
    2. Carole
    3. Marg, Virginia and anyone else with the same question, There is a book called A Complete History of Fairfield County, 1795-1876 by Hervey Scott that is available through Higginson Book Company, 148 Washington Street, P.O. Box 778, Salem, Massachusetts 01970. Their phone is (508) 745-7170. The cost of this book is $35 and I'm sure there would probably be shipping. They also have an e-mail address of higginsn@cove.com. This company carries many county "history" books, so for anyone interested in another county or state, I would recommend getting in touch with them about availability. I have had them do a reprint of an out-of-print Whitley County, IN book for me and was very satisfied with it. Hopefully this will help any of you who might be in need of book like these. Carole

    2. Linda & Oliver
    3. George HARTER died 9 oct 1859 in Fairfield County. Sarah, his wife, died Sep 6, 1877 in Walnut Twp, Fairfield Co. They are supposedly buried at the Lutheran Cemetery Marquette Rd, Dunsonville, Ohio. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might find funeral records, burial records? Or obituaries for these two individuals? Is anyone familiar with this cemetery and might have an address where I can write for information? I go to DC periodically and can go to the Library of Congress or to the National Archives in exchange for any assistance you might be able to provide. Thanks in advance Linda in Texas

    1. [OHFAIRFI-L] John & Hannah FORD
    2. Frances L. Knapp
    3. I am researching the family of John & Hannah FORD of Violet Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. John died 24 Jul 1830, Hannah died 23 Oct 1824. They are buried in Dovel Cemetery in Pickerington. I would like to know if anyone else is researching this family. I descend from their son, Robert. I believe that Hannah's maiden name was CLOUD and would like to know if anyone is researching the family of Rev. Robert CLOUD, Methodist minister in Fairfield Co. about 1815 when Robert FORD married Margarita SMITH, Rev. CLOUD officiating. Rev. CLOUD may have also been a judge in Fairfield County. I would be very grateful for a reply from anyone interested in this family. I appreciate the work of our moderator, Carol Swinehart and especially grateful for her "Church Archives On Line" web page! The Fords were staunch Methodists and I have been unable to find the early Fairfield Co. Records. Just didn't know where to look. I visited the Drew University Library in Madison NJ which has a huge collection of Methodist history, but couldn't find what I was looking for, or anyone to assist. Many thanks, Carol. Fran Knapp

    1. [OHFAIRFI-L] Any advice?
    2. Paul Rabe
    3. Looking over a petition for partition involving Frederick Rabe, an ancestor, I found a copy of the following transcript from 1857 February 28th: It is hereby certified that the Land Warrant 80.058 for 160 acres has been issued in the name of Christina Kramer, Frederick Rabe and Hannah Rife, brother and sisters and heirs at law of Peter Rabe, alias Rabey, deceased, late a private in Captain Tucker's 2nd Regiment Ohio Volunteers ... and will be deposited in the General Land Office at the seat of Government ... After the location of the certificate it is to be surrendered to the General Land Office whence this Patent will issue. [BTW, Philemon Ewing bought Fred and Hannah's share in 1859 and, after successfully partioning the property in 1869, bought Christina's share in 1870] Two questions that someone may be able to help me with: 1) where would I look to get a regimental roll of this unit? It seems Peter served in the Mexican-American War and it would be interesting to see when and where he did so. 2) where would I look to get a copy of this certificate/warrant/ patent? Understanding 19th century property transactions are not a strong point of mine, so I am not even sure what I am asking for, let alone to whom I should ask for it!

    2. Carol Swinehart
    3. http://www.greenapple.com/~cshart/chlinks.html I have updated my church archive list (again). I believe it is one of the most complete listings on the internet for US churches. As of yet my New York link is not working but will be soon. Stop by and give me some input. Are there more links I should have for Ohio Churches or other denominational records??? You can still get to this page from my other liblinks.html address but the aforementioned one goes directly to the church archives page so you might want to change your bookmarks. I know from experience that writing to these archives does work. Many have the church books you are looking for or can point you in the right direction. Even via e-mail I was able to locate the First German Presbyterian records (a church formerly in Newark, NJ) and a Reformed church formerly in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Happy hunting.
