Jayne, These two-part e-mail messages defeat too, and no one seems to tell me how to make the m intelligible. What I can't understand is why this new phenomenon didn't baffle us until a few months ago. Until recently everything came in as plain language. Wish the Fairfield chapter would have pity on us and tell us how to read their binary attachments and additional information!!! Charles

Here is some info that should be of interest to those working on Fairfield County families. I have not seen it on this list yet. 1) The following URL leads to the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office (GLO) Records Automation web site. "This site provides live database and image access to more than two million federal land title records for the Eastern Public Land States, dating back to 1820. This site offers researchers a source of information on the initial transfer of land title from the federal government to individuals. In addition to verifying title transfer, this information will allow the researcher to place an individual (Patentee) at a specific location (legal land description) in time (Signature date)." http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ The states covered are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 2) From: Allen Potts <allenp19@IDT.NET> To: OHIO-ROOTS-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU <OHIO-ROOTS-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU> Subject: 1883 Marion County History Date: Saturday, May 09, 1998 6:43 PM The Biographical Sketches from the 1883 Marion County History have now been uploaded to my web site. Here is a copy of the Ziegler message which was sent twice to the list, but on my system came over with a bunch of "garbage symbols" included. Sent original twice by "Jayne W. Dye M. D." <<jdye@computech-online.net> Sorry I did not include that address in my last answer. Are the baptismal, marriage and burial records available from this church and cemetery? I could volunteer to go there and record whatever is possible including a survey of the grave stones if that would be helpful to anyone. There are many Kaemmerers there. There is a discussion group of Kaemmerers and a surname-L which would like to have all this information available - and maybe it already is and I just don't know where to look. Jayne, related by marriage a ggggrandson of John Philip Kaemmerer, Rev War soldier Now, to answer some of Jayne's questions. There are on Baptismal records for this church. I believe the Fairfield County Chapter of OGS has confirmation records. The cemetery was copied several times because of the inconsistencies with the burial records and some of the transcripts. The Zeigler Cemetery is included in the Cemeteries of Pleasant Township, enumerated by the Fairfield County Chapter OGS pp. 149-167 Kammerer on p 156, 157, 160, 161, 162, (info on ordering is available at http://www.fairfieldgenealogy.org ) THe Zeigler Lutheran Church is located in Section 7 on the NW corner of Tschopp Rd. (CR 76) and Marquette Dr (TR 376). Now called Zeigler Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Pleasant Township - address 4003 Tschopp Rd NE phone 654-4475. Hi All, I had an uncle drown in Walnut Creek in 1857 in Walnut Creek in Fairfield County. Is Walnut Creek still running and if so, what part of Fairfield County is it in? Sean Pugh spugh@onebellevue.com
I do not know what happens. The list is marked in my dictionary - send plain text only. I just type in a clear message on my screen and send it. Most of the time it is fine. All one on one direct email is fine. But email to lists comes out garbage. Several lists have excluded me. Is it my equipment, my typing, my software, or my internet server? Jayne

For all of those that asked here are the results of my inquiry Lynn Dern at 740-862-8429 Mrs. Bruce Dern 4277 Basil Western Rd NW Baltimore, OH has only the records since 1940 to present. All others are unaccounted for except those that have been copied and placed in the FCO District Library which are the ones that were translated by the Fairfield County Chapter of OGS in the book St. Michael's (Bickel) German Reformed Church (1805?-1841) Liberty Township, Fairfield County, Ohio Good news is Hugh Schaffner 311 Buchanan, Baltimore, OH 740-862-4519 may have the cemetery burial records, but Lynn did not know how far back those records go. Another bit of bad news is that at one time St. Micheal's was in a charge with St. Jacobs on Palmer Rd. and those records were transferred to St. Micheals and have been lost, burned or taken (as per Ellen McDaniel, a member of the church) Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but the records in most cases are just not available. There were so many of you who asked about the address for the St. Micheal's Church that I am trying to find out from the pastor and another lady who apparently takes care of the records what records are available. If all of you who asked for the church address actually wrote to the pastor he would be so overwhelmed (I did find out they do not have a secretary) that he would not answer anyone. So please be patient. When I find out what records are available I will post them to the list. Then if your records are listed among those available, feel free to write. I will also find out if you would need to contact the record's lady or the pastor for the best result. Please be patient. The earliest records of St. Michael's German Reformed Church (1805?-1841) Liberty Township, Fairfield County, Ohio were published by the FCO CHapter OGS in 1986. THey were translated twice (for accuracy) and are just baptisms. I believe these are the only early records the church has but I may be wrong. I am on my way out the door right now, but Pat if you would like the address of the church let me know and tomarrow I will be able to get that to you. Have the death records of St. Michael's Church in Liberty Township been recorded. I've found some baptismal records. My Henry EGOLF is listed in the Index of Cemeteries of Liberty Township as having died 5 August 1829, but I was hoping there might be a death list for me to compare the date of death on the cemetery record and what the church might have. I'm trying to place him as the son of George Adam EGOLF b. 1720. There is a three year difference in George Adam's son Henry and my Henry. I want to think they are the same person but need a bit more info to convince some other researchers. <G> Thanks. Pat in Fort Wayne

It is possible they came into Lancaster from Pennsylvania, probably the Lancaster area there too, but I'm not certain. Any help or leads would be appreciated.
