Hello Does anyone connect with the Moore Family of Lancaster & Canal Winchester area. I am looking for Edward Moore b. 5 Jan 1804, who married Catherine Andrix. They were last found in the 1860 census. Living with them was Elijah Kramer, who married their daughter Catherine Moore. None of these people are found in the 1870/1880 census. Did they leave Ohio. Does anyone know this family ? Edward Moore was the son of Levi Moore & Sarah Bright. Levi came to Lancaster in 1800, and removed to Canal Winchester in 1811, where he remained the rest of his life. Hopeing someone can tell me where this family may have went. Thanks Sue Kramer

The day was exceptionally beautiful, the bright and crimson colored leaves of autumn added new beauties to the scenery while the gentle breeze kissed the brow of the lovely bride and tinged the cheek of the manly groom. By eleven o'clock about seventy-five guests had filled the parlors ancioulsy waiting and pleasantly passing the time in conversation. At twelve M. the bride and groom elegantly attired took position under a suspended wreath of evergreens and flowers and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. W. Mechling in a solemn and impressive manner according to the ritual of the Lutheran church. After receiving the congratulations of the friends all repaired to the dining room where an elegant repast was served, after which the remainder of the day was spent pleasantly in conversation, music and song when all retired to their homes feeling that it was good to be there. According to the Lancaster Gazette, Peter M. Macklin and Sarah R. Jenkins married on October 6, 1887.
I sent this transcription of a newspaper article to out list last week - and also sent a bmp file of the article out to a few people who have better eye sight than I do. I had a few errors. Instead of "bessermered" brass tray -- it is a "hammered" brass tray. Master Philip "Mezelin" is the correct transcription - whereas I had Master Philip "Macklin" [ I believe that the newspaper incorrectly spelled his name and that it is in fact, Macklin]. Also - Margaret Sopp pointed out to me: "If the Macklin-Jenkins marriage was on Thursday, October 6th, ...the perpetual calendar shows that October 6th fell on a Thursday in 1870, 1881, and 1887. Also - I have some questions to pose to you. What is a "toilet" quilt? And what are "plush splashers?" My connection to Fairfield county Ohio are all prior to 1836. My GGG grand father Thomas Bowen as well as my GG grand father William Bowen both owned lands in Morrow cty. Ohio. which according to land patent reports oho170_.172 & OH0170_.466 were purchased in 1831. which by the way I just recently found Thanks to a URL submitted by Patsy Kishler to OHFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com 10 May 1998. The Biographical Record of Blackford cty. Indiana which I found at the Allen cty. Library in Fort wayne IN. Stated that Thomas & William both had came from Ohio to Blackford cty. IN. in 1836. The same book also told of a Ozias Barnes that had married Hannah Bowen, in Fairfield cty. Ohio, who was a daughter to Thomas and a sister to William. I visited Fairfield cty. and the Lancaster District Library found the marriage record of Ozias & Hannah. And I also found the marriage record of William Bowen & Rebecca Evans listed in the "Pickaway cty. marriage Records 1810-1862" they were married Aug. 1836. But I couldn`t find any land records. Now thanks to Patsy and the OHFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com I have a new location to search when I make my annual visit north. I plan on visiting sometime in July. I would really be interested in finding out more about why they left Ohio and how it came about that the marriages were in different counties and where they were prior to being in Ohio. I did notice in the land records that some of there neighbors are the same as the ones in Indiana so it seems as though they may have traveled as a group. I hope those answers come as easy as the questions but some how I doubt it.......BILL Bowen Bill Bowen http://www.interaccess.net/~wcb
