Does the Lancaster Public Library or the Fairfield Co. Gen Society have marriages for Fairfield Co circa 1859 to 1862/3? I need to know the marriage date for Elijah Blizzard to an Elizabeth (?). This would be Elijah's second marriage. Also I need to know when a Sarah Blizzard Died and what Cemetery she is buried in I believe that Elijah and Sarah were living in Greenfield Twp at time of Sarah's death. Elizabeth's last child was born in 1859 or early 60 for in the 1960 Census of Greenfield twp Sarah is no longer in household and baby Sarah is listed as 7/12 months of age. Can anyone help me! The following is taken from a pamphlet made available by the Vital Statistics Division of the Lancaster Public Health Center, 113 W. Whheling St., Lancaster, OH 43130: GENEALOGY - Genealogy has become a passion for many people who want to research their family history. There is an increase each year of persons asking to search the records. The law provides that records be available to the public during regular business hours, and that index files be compiled to assist people in their search. Due to the demand of genealogy work, vital statistics staff can not always provide records the day the request is made. Records can be mailed or picked up at a later date. *Genealogy research can be done Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. *Records are filed in chronological order, therefore complete date is needed. *Index books are provided in the vital statistics lobby. COST - Certified records - $8.00 Uncertified records - (which most genealogists need) 20 cents *uncertified records are not a legal document Reprinted with permission of the Lancaster Public Health Center NOTE: Please keep in mind that genealogy requests are not the only function of the Vital Statistics Division. Therefore, when writing for copies please try ot limit your request to 5 copies! Karen S. Smith, Corresponding Secretary The Fairfield Co. Chapter OGS http://www.fairfieldgenealogy.org
For those of you who are not yet aware, the cost of copies from the Fairfield Co. Probate Court has been lowered from $1.00 to 25 cents per page. This is quite a savings! I have John GRIMES who was born in 1824 someplace in Ohio. His father was Felix Grimes born 1797 in possibly Loudoun, VA though I've not confirmed that. Felix married in Ross Co., Ohio. John SHOEMAKER, b PA ca 1832, md Dora PFEILSTICKER, b Germany ca 1836, PA before 1853 when their first daughter, Harriet Elizabeth was born in PA. Other children were Jane, b PA ca 1857; Charles, b PA ca 1859; Almeda b OH ca 1863; Ida b OH ca 1867; and twins George Frnklin and Ellie b Amanda Township, Fairfield Co., OH on 28 Dec 1870. I know that Harriet Elizabeth md William Jefferson TIPTON in Fairfield Co., OH on 11 Oct 1877, but have no more information on other children. Family was in Fairfield Co. in 1889 census, and I think that of the Ohio born children were probably born there, also, but I have no proof. Do not know where in PA they lived, nor where Dora migrated from in Germany, nor when. Would appreciate any clues and will be happy to share what information I have on the family. TIA Jeanne T. Lane

Found a William Green and wife in Bremen 1911. Newspaper announced they had a child. Seeking information on Greens in Bremen from 1908 on. Possible names in addition to William are John Green, Harold Green, and C. F. Green. My line Mack Green and his brother Frank Green were there. These others may be kin. Looking for info/have same to share. Brian Geeen
Looking for City Directories on Bremen 1900 on, and also Lancaster 1900 on up to 1915. Brian Green
I have long been searching the lineage of Eli Hale. Now I have the parents of Eli, and am trying to get more information on them. I obtained Eli's death certificate, and his brother William's death certificate. I believe that Eli's parents were John HALE and Elizabeth HENRY. The death certificates conotradict each other, so I am not sure where they were born, but evidently at some time they lived in Fairfield County, OH. Eli and William lived in Henry County, OH. Eli Hale was born 12 JUN 1859 in Ohio. By the time he married, he was living in Henry County, OH. He died there as well. William HALE was born 21 OCT 1854 in Fairfield County, OH I think. He also moved on to Henry County, OH. Perhaps someone could check an 1860-70-80 (any of em!) census of Fairfield County? I would be very grateful for help. I have asthma and cannot do research on paper very easily, especially not with old documents. Learning the origin of this line is very important to me. Eli began about three generations of parent abandoning child. This deeply affected my grandfather, and even my mother! I really want to know why he did this, and if his whole family was the same way? It means a great deal to me. Did this precede Eli's generation? I am sorry to carry on, and I apologize if you get more than one copy of this query. I am just trying to brainstorm how I can find Eli's parents. I really appreciate your time. Thanks again. Lori
