What about a Probate register for the area prior to 1900? Has anyone done research at the courthouse? What are the rules for doing research. Any information about the area and where to do research would be greatly appreciated

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2VB.2ACE/429.2 Message Board Post: On your list of Walters marriages I note that there is a question mark nest to the year of GEORGE WALTERS birth. I can confirm that the year of his marriage is 1824. George Walters (9 November 1805 -1 January 1881) those of his wife MARY M. FULLER are 15 January 1806 -19 February 1865. I believe the DANIEL WALTERS shown on the same list is a brother and that ELIZABETH WALTERS, who married Daniel B. Fuller (Mary's brother), was another sibling. The father of these three members of the Walters family may have also been named George. The family was originally German and came to Fairfield County from Pennsylvania. I have more on the family.

The John Paver family that moved MD to OH had a son Thomas. The last record I can find is the census 1830 in Fairfield Co OH. History of Beers states he married a Miss Davis and moved to TN. The age would be correct for that next generation. Thomas is the only one I cannot track. LDS stated he may have moved to AL, OK , LA. I am now tracing Isaac son Joseph who moved OH, to IL. Then several siblings moved to KS. It is interesting the Paver in Hamilton Co OH, and the East Coast never connect to OH. The Peever in SC seem to come from Canada.

    3. I wonder if you are referring to the cemetery more commonly known as the Stevenson-Ruffner Cemetery or the Stevenson Campground Cemetery. This small cemetery is located on Snake Run Rd. in Richland Twp. not far from West Rushville. To get to the cemetery you would turn north from Rte 22 N. E. of Lancaster onto County Road 30. Turn at right at Richland Rd. Take Richland Rd. to Snake Run Rd., which is on the right where Richland Rd. makes a sharp left turn. The cemetery can be seen from Richland Rd. The cemetery can also be reached by driving into West Rushville & taking McCafferty Rd. to Richland Rd., and then turning right on Richland Rd. There are a number of Ruffner graves in this cemetery. I have visited the location a number of times, as I have Teal ancestors buried there. 1. Peter Witmer, Revolutionary War Soldier, SAR Graveside Ceremony Planned
    2. The Ohio Society and the Alabama Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will celebrate the Revolutionary War service of Peter Whitmer (1760-1835) at a special graveside service in Perry County, Ohio on Sunday, Sep. 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. The public is invited. Present in Revolutionary War uniforms will be the color guards from both Societies, complete with flags waving, muskets firing, national anthem, and taps. The American Legion is expected to attend to honor the veteran with a 21-gun salute. The master of ceremonies, also in his SAR uniform, will be descendant Col. Larry P. Cornwell, USAF-Ret., who will unveil a special medallion set onto the stone which will permanently commemorate Peter's participation in the War. Joh. Peter Whitmer served in the War for three years, including service in 1782 in Capt. Balzer Orth's First Company of the Second Battalion of the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Militia, listed in the Eighth Class as Peter Wittmer, Jun'r. Joh. Peter Whitmer is buried next to his wife of 48 years, Mary Magdalena OVERMYER, the daughter of Capt. John George OVERMYER, Jr (1727-1805) and his wife Anna Barbara Vogt.
