    3. About U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1880 This database is an index to the Mortality Schedules of the United States Federal Censuses for 1850-1880. Each of the U.S. Federal Censuses from 1850-1880 included a mortality schedule enumerating the individuals who had died in the year previous to the census year. In addition, each individual is linked to the census image on which they appear. ancestry doesn't have OHIO online... I don't know if you live here in Ohio....but if you do...I would try the Library at the Ohio Historical Society or see if maybe it's part of the records the Columbus Library (downtown branch) got from the old archives library... but remember...also...she'll only be in there if she died in the year prior to the date of your census....if census was taken in your research area in June...and she died of Oct of that year...you won't find anyting...but if she died between date of census and the prior full year...then you might get lucky... 3. Thanks for the suggestion, Heather - but Louisa Gares died in either 1873 or 1875, so no listing for her on the Mortality Schedule for 1870. I did get lucky with regards to her husband though -he died in June, 1859 and was on the Mortality Schedule for the 1860 Census, so I do know that that source is a good one to check out! 3. The Fairfield County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society has a map at http://www.fairfieldgenealogy.org/research/fairfieldcountymap.jpg that shows the current political townships in the county and what survey townships and ranges each of them includes. The map does not show sections, which you need to pinpoint locations. A map that does include sections is found in the online version of the 1883 History of Fairfield and Perry Counties Ohio at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tfisher/fairfield_perry_history.htm Look under part III. Unfortunately, the map is a little hard to read. -- Karl Seitz >Thanks for all the good info. Is there a web site to download the maps for >these range/twp's? 3. Does anyone have a Dorcas / Darcus Beery / Berry married to Isaac Quick ca 1831 in Violet Township? I can't find either of their parents, but she had a sister, Lucy who married William Funk. Sound familiar to anyone? Barb Marshall

My knowledge of a few members is limited to eastern Pennsylvania and Virginia. I'm sure members of the family did come into Ohio, and probably Allen County. Many of the families into which they married followed the Pennsylvania-Virginia-Ohio pattern. -- Karl Seitz I have 110 GOCHNOUR persons in my data base stemming from Bedford Co., Pa. and a few locations out West in Idaho and Washington State but no Ohio connection made yet. 3. Annette, There was also one for a Lewis Sites, land patent issued 1924, for one that was issued Oct 1, 1811. Range 19W, Twp 16 N, Sec 12 N 1/2. You can even print out the land patent. Also one for a Hannah Seitz, patent says of Hocking Co., Ohio and bought land in Vinton Co., OH. Hope you can access the land office records. The actual patents usually state what co. & state they are from when buying the land. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom & Marjie Evans" <theme@windstream.net> To: <ohfairfi@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 9:59 AM Subject: Re: [OHFAIRFI] Lewis & Daniel Seitz land location > Annette, Have you tried this: The Bureau of Land Management-Eastern > States General Land Office (GLO) Records Web site is now back online at : > http://www.glorecords.blm.gov. > > Find the Green Bar at top area of page, click on Search Land Patents, they > ask for your area zip code.
