<< GORE ORPHANGE WAS A ORPHANGE THAT CAUGHT FRE APPARENTLY WITH ALL THE CHILDREN INSIDE. NOW ALL THAT IS LEFT IS A PART OF THE SLAB THAT WAS LEFT AFTER THE FIRE. >> This story sounds remarkably similar to that of a nursing home between Norwalk and Fitchville on Rte. 250 in Huron County. It caught fire and burned to the ground with many of the residents still inside. This happened about 30 years ago. For many years all that remained was the concrete slab floor. I think even that is gone now. If I remember correctly, the area may have been turned into a camping area, or a mobile home park, or something like that. I haven't been up that way in quite some time. We always went past there when going to visit my grandparents in Milan. Nothing earth shattering. Just fun facts to know and tell.
