That helps clear things up, I think I can post my towns page now.... I talked to some members this past Tuesday at our meeting, and they said Fishack was once a little community back in in the Gypsum Mines days... "Fishack, was part of Portage Township years ago. This was a little spot on the back waters of East Harbor, Flowing back towards Port Clinton.Back in this little area were some small dwellings that consisted mostly of Black people. They were fishermen and the dwellings were very poorly constructed. So the Name "FISHACK" was because,Black People were noted fishermen and their homes, were what some would call shacks. This is to my understanding. I know this place existed about 50 years ago. I don't think there is any kind of artifacts left to mark this area. Things have change over the years." Thanks again for all of your help and your QUICK responses!!! We have a page listing the Ottawa County cemeteries and addresses if you are interested: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohoccgs/cemetery.html Sincerely, Pam Owens 1999 Vice President Ottawa County Genealogical Society !^NavFont02F048E0007NGHHK90EC66 Maggie's World of Courthouse Dust & Genealogy Fever http://www.infinet.com/~dzimmerm/mindex.html *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* God Put Me On Earth to Accomplish a Certain Number of Things.
