Bobbi RE: BLACK, WILLER, HARDEN/HARDIN, ATHERTON I checked "Erie County Ohio Cemetery Census Before 1909" with the following results: Maple Grove Cemetery, aka "Washburn Cemetery", Vermilion Twp.: BLACK, Augustus A., 1826-1898. BLACK, John C., 1819-Aug 15, 1906. BLACK, Josephine, d. Jan 21, 1858, 45y 2m 21d, w/o Wm. Black. ATHERTON, Elizabeth B. (BLACK), d. Jan 27, 1864, 58y 1m 27d, w/o Allen H. HARDING, Joseph, b. Feb 24, 1794 in MD, d. Aug 2, 1867, 73y 5m 9d, s/o Matthew. WILLER, none. Maple Grove Cemetery, Township Section, Vermilion Twp.: ATHERTON, none. BLACK, none. HARDEN, none. WILLER, none. Orchard Beach Cemetery, aka "Cuddleback Cemetery," Vermilion Twp.: ATHERTON, none. BLACK, none. HARDEN, none. WILLER, none. I have a feeling that the above Joseph HARDING could very well be your Joseph HARDEN/HARDIN. I find it interesting that Elizabeth B. Atherton's maiden name was BLACK (but maybe you knew that). Vermilion is actually in Erie Co & Lorain Co. You should request a lookup or post a querry on the Lorain Co. page. The above cemeteries are the only ones that are in Erie Co., and all of them are relatively small. It just seems likely that many Vermilion City and Township residents may well have been buried in one of the Lorain Co. Cemeteries. Good luck with your research -- I hope this helps. Carol A.
