Maggie ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 6-May-98 0:53 Subject: ERIE COUNTY From: Wamcs INTERNET:Wamcs@aol.com To: Maggie Stewart-Zimmerman 73777,25 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Maggie, I was so excited to see this site, however, as hard as I tried to get it I could not. I was very disappointed. I am in need of alot of help. My great grandfather's family lived on Kelleys Island, not sure yet if and how many of the seven children were born there. Parents were Irish and from Co Clare. John and Anne Lynch. They had seven children: Cornelius Joseph Leyden, Martin, John, Patrick, Michael Augustus, Margaret and Anna. Rumor has it my great grandfather was born on Kelleys but when I sent away for cert to Probate Court of Erie, they found no record. Is there some place else I should be looking? Birthdate of 9-13-1873. I know that the family lived on Kelleys for years as they were "South Quarry" workers. My great grandfather moved away in 1898 to the Philippines where he married and had four children, he died in 1921 and is still buried there. Also, one of the children John, was killed in "The Big Wind" , do you know of this? Disaster on Lake Erie around 1930 or 31. I have written 2 letters to Betty Pape, a volunteer historian of the island but have not gotten back a response. Any suggestions? Oh, there is also a B&B on Kelleys that was built by my great uncle, Patrick Leyden, it is on the historical register. Where can I find info such as birth certs, death ( I know they have a cemetary there on Kelleys) no response from the Catholic church St Michaels either. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
