    3. Sharon Ages ago when I was researching in Erie Co. Probate records, I found a book of births and deaths for a few years in the 1850's. I don't remember the years. The records don't really start until 1871, but there were some small volumes for some of the miscellaneous years before then. I don't know personally, but heard that Huron County has some birth and death records for Erie Co. people for some years in the 1850s, so try there. Erie Co. was origianlly part of Huron County. Even though we were established in 1838, it took several years (I guess) for the administration of records to be set up. That is why Huron County should always be checked out before giving up. We all have to face up to the fact that early records were scanty if at all, but check out all possibilities. All it takes is an inquiry. Carol
