However, I did find a small death notice in the Sandusky Daily Register for a Wm. Sloan. Thursday 18 Jun 1896, page 8 column 6: Mr. Wm. Sloan, formerly of Bellevue, but of recent years residing at Passadena, California died at the resident of his daughter, Mrs. McCoy, in that city on the 9th inst. at the age of 70 years.
