The LGAR is the only organization that may use the name of the Grand Army of the Republic. Aiding in the preservation of Civil War battlefields, keeping Memorial Day as "sacred" to the memory of our Civil War ancestors and all of our veterans, and educating the public about Civil War history, flag etiquette, and patriotism are what the members of the LGAR promote. If you are proud of your Civil War ancestor and would like his/her name to be honored, please consider membership in the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic.
