I recently came into possession of a photograph of a soldier in a World War 1 uniform. The photo is on a 3inch by 5 inch postcard, and shows a soldier in uniform, sitting on a chair in front of a photographers studio backdrop. On the back of the card is written: Joseph Kauer 10th Co. Columbus Barracks Columbus, Ohio A brief search of the name leads me to believe that the photo is that of Joseph Kauer, who lived in Sandusky, and enlisted on April 13, 1918, age 41 years. He was honorably discharged on December 13, 1918.
