    1. Re: [OHErie] 1850 ERIE COUNTY census database online SAYLES
    2. Roger Phillips
    3. Thank you Ted and any others who helped with this! Up until now I had only found one of three children born to John Foster Sayles (b: Feb 22, 1813 Sempronius, NY d: Jul 18, 1863) m: Dec 04, 1838 Catherine Bennett (b: Jan 15, 1822 Ohio d: Mar 1845). All three children were put into foster homes after the death of their mother. With this index I found Mary Josephine "Sales" (with Leonard Chapin hh, Berlin Twp.), Ester Amelia "Sales" (with Elsworth Bumond hh, Berlin Twp) and Olive Catherine "Sales" (with Charles Kellogg hh in Berlin Twp.). John Foster Sayles married Malinda Shepard in 1854 in Henrietta, Ohio, and had one child, Alice Isadore Sayles (b. Oct 29, 1858). According to a biography of Lavallette Griffin (husband of Olive Sayles), John Foster Sayles "was a physician of note". I am trying to determine where he lived after his first wife's death, the circumstances of his own death and where he is buried. [Also, it would be helpful if you include your full name, and perhaps zip-code, since email-addresses change so frequently.] > Your Post-Em Notes will remain attached, for future researchers. This database can be a great Erie County resource, if everyone contributes info. > The webpage address is > http://www.geocities.com/ohiopioneers > There you will find links to the individual Township gedcoms, or intructions to search the entire County simultaneously. > Keep in mind that this index is NOT an every-name index. Mostly it includes heads-of-households, and other household members with a surname different from the 'head'. > There are also additional Erie County research hints posted at the webpage. > Please pass along this full message, to any Erie County researchers that you know. > Happy hunting! > Ted Allen Reising 44814 > http://www.geocities.com/ohiopioneers > > > > ==== OHERIE Mailing List ==== > Feel free to share your research tips, get help from others and discuss ideas on research and resources for Erie County. > To search this list go to http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and enter OHERIE for the list name. >
