Hello all, The name here is Dave, and apparently I have several surnames that were in Erie County, OH in the early 1800's. All of the following listed people existed, but many of their parents remain very elusive for me. Reuben BROOKS, b. Jan. 1790 in NY (parents unknown) Father Nelly Van BENSCHOTEN, b. 1793/4 NY........................Mother Absalom BROOKS, b. 1814 NY ( need his family) William BROOKS, b. 1817 NY ( my line) Harlow BROOKS, b. 20 Aug 1819, Erie Co., OH ( need his/her family) Rebecca BROOKS, b. 8 Apr 1822, Erie Co., OH ( " ) Eliza J. BROOKS, b. 18 Sep 1825 , Erie Co., OH ( " ) Julia BROOKS, b. 4 Oct 1828 ......, Erie Co., OH m. AIKEN ( " ) Margaret HOFFMAN, b. 1750 NY ( parents unknown) Mother of Nelly above Mary HOBBS, b. 25 Oct 1819 MD...married in Erie Co., OH on 11 Sep 1841, wife of William BROOKS above George W. HOBBS, b. 1794 MD ( parents unknown) Father of Mary Julia ELSON, b. abt. 1798 MD (parents unknown) Mother of Mary Eventually, several of the above went on to Indiana and Iowa, but a few stayed put there in Erie County. Reuben BROOKS seeems to have some documentation in Erie County from his arrival with a Mr. PEAKE from Vermont to his death in 1859, but nothing is known of his parents...I also can't find him on the recent Cenus index of Erie County for 1850 unless he refused it, or went by another name; there were several, or many BROOKS, in Erie County at that time. Hopefully, by posting this like this, it will connect with someone there in Erie County who may be a descendant of the above,or find that special person who can remove the brick walls I seem to have in Erie County...
