Sorry to post this to the list, but three emails to the list administrator have all bounced. Is it possible to ask Laura Miller to stop her post of lies about on this list. I am tired of less than the truth being posted. This is really enough. I have received many supportive responses privately and feel this should not be on the list. One, not so nice person, asked what is the rush? I try not to air my problems on the lists, but after May 19 I may have no vision. THAT is MY rush. I am not asking for sympathy. I have been doing research since I was 12 -- just turned 65 and have over 200,000 names in my database. All information is documented. I cannot come to Ohio at this time to do research. That is why I asked for a lookup. When Laura said she could do more I was elated. I made it clear from the beginning that I expected to pay and that the $50.00 was just to get her started. After the 21 obits...nothing! Below some of Laura's posts to me and one from a researcher you will recognize (sorry, I should have asked your permission first) showing Laura wrote her for direction in getting information and documents. What info do you have for Sandusky that you want I have access to a lot of resources and can get whatever it is that you might want, but I don't want to get what you already have copies of. As for Cleveland I have to go up that way just about every month or so, so I can get the info for up there it just takes me a little longer than it would for here. Please let me know what it is that you want and I'll see if I can get the right documents. As far as money goes. I do this as a volunteer because I enjoy it, but your right it is not cheap, so if when I'm finished gathering all I can and you want to pay me that's fine. But the thing that I do wish that almost everyone never does is 2 things to let me know that they received the info and to just say Thank You. That's pretty much why I stopped doing look ups for a long time, and really haven't had the desire to start back into digging for others no one knows how to say Thank you. Oh well sorry guess I needed to ramble. If you send me some names and what info you have I'll get started looking for you. Please remember I'll e-mail you as soon as I find anything. Laura Subj: DeCaro & Esposito info Date: 2/2/03 3:24:09 PM Pacific Standard Time From: See2itgirl To: GenBound Sharon, Hi I have found dates and info on a lot of the family names that you sent me so getting obit's, birth records, death records, cemetery info shouldn't be a problem. It will take me a little while. I will be going to the library this week and getting as much info as I can. I am on a tight income so getting the info to you may take a couple of weeks, but it will take me that long to get everything I can on the family members. I have a lot of info that I can get my hands on at the library they know me there very well and let me dig in the stuff in the basement that other's don't have access to. I will keep you up to date as to what I find, but it will take a little while to get everything. Laura Subj: Re: DeCaro & Esposito info Date: 2/3/03 7:06:21 PM Pacific Standard Time From: See2itgirl To: GenBound Sharon, I hate to ask for people to pay anying because I enjoy doing this so much. But with me being on disability and being on a very tight income it's hard to pay my bills and still do look ups for people. Here are the resources I have available at Sandusky Library: city directories going back to 1855, cemetery records on microfilm, obit's the paper dates back to 185? and goes through the present, census records, more books about people in the city then you can imagine. I also know all the girls in the genealogy area so I am one of the few who is allowed to go into the basement and dig for records. Across the street from the library is the courthouse, where I can get copies of probate records and marriage licenses. And of course downtown at the health department I can get copies of birth and death certificates. I'll get started on what I have now and go from there. When I go to see my sister-in-law in Cleveland I can check into the information that they have at the library. I hope this will help you fill in the gaps. Laura Miller Sharon, I have a lot of lookups to do for a few people and will be going to the library next week if you'd like I'll check and see what I can find out for you. Laura Miller 2/6/03 Sharon, Just wanted to let you know that I received the check today. Thank You so very much. I also have a manilla envelope going out to you tomorrow afternoon with some obit's and things I have found so far. Please let me know when you get this. Thanks again I will be sending more out next week, but will tell you before each package goes out so that you can watch for it. Laura Miller Subj: Is everythink OK??? Sharon Subj: Looking for Laura Miller of Sandusky Date: 4/2/03 8:26:13 PM Pacific Standard Time From: To: [email protected] Sent from the Internet (Details) Sharon: Something is very strange here. You said in your email that snip<She said she has many connections in Sandusky to places few researchers are allowed to go.>snip Well, on Feb 7, 2003 she sent me the following email: _____, You seem to be the expert at research. I have a question, I need to go to probate and find some marriage records. Couple of questions: Where do I go at the courthouse? How much does it cost to get the information I need? Is it anything like the library where I can just dig through some books? Thanks for your help. Laura Miller Now that sure doesn't sound like a person who 'has connections in Sandusky to places few researchers are allowed to go'. Hope that someone can answer these questions about her or that she will contact you. Strange too, that she would change her email address and not notify the people she has been paid to help. FYI, if she researched any records in the Court House, birth, death marriage before 1908, and made copies, the cost......10 cents per copy. You use the copy machine right there in the office and it is an honor system! Obituaries copies at the library are the same....10 cents per copy. Birth and death uncertified copies from the health dept are $2.00 each. Not sure what you paid but I think you can kiss that good bye. I'm hoping that she will come through for you. This type of action has such a negative reaction on all researchers. We are here to help. Let me know if there is anything I can do further. (researchers name) Sandusky, Erie Co, OH Erie County Chapter, OGS There were responses from others, some saying she or her mother had done research for them. They said Laura often promised cemetery pictures but all said they never received them. Most were happy with the other research they did. Laura never contacted me again, even after my post to the list Her mother did and was angry, but when I sent her copies she did not respond. Laura can email me all she wants, but I feel it is very unfair of her to send these lies to the list. Others in Sandusky have done research for me and they know the truth, that I always pay (unless some very small lookup) and I always say thank you -- even when the person didn't find anything. You can view my post to this list is your archives, as you know. Hopeful of a quick resolution to this problem. Happy Easter (or Passover) and God Bless America. Sharon in So. CA
