Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1VB.2ACE/590.1 Message Board Post: I have been researching a Frank Atherton who married a possible gggrandmother, Martha Trowbridge, in Indiana in 1871. This Indiana "Frank" looks like a possible father to my ggrandfather, who lists his father as being born in Ohio. As such, I found a listing for "F. M. Atherton living with the Curtis Benschoter family on the 1860 census for Berlin township, Erie county, Ohio. I have not found any other listings or references to an Atherton/Benschoter connection, until seeing your posting! For me, this is a bit of a dart throw, but something to pursue! Note: The marriage of Frank Atherton and Martha E. Trowbridge ended in divorce, per Indiana genweb records. Their son, "George" remained in custody of his mother. I show a listing of "Elizebeth" Atherton and "Guy" Atherton on the 1880 census for Reading, Hillsdale, Michigan. My great grandfather always was listed as Guy Atherton, except for one census listing which shows "Geo." Lots of questions remain, however, Martha Elizabeth Trowbridge's mother, per another forum I found recently, was born Lydia DeForrest. She married DeWitt Hicks and had some children before marrying David Trowbridge, who also had been previously married and had children from that marriage. An interesting connection, considering my research is less than solid on this whole connection, is that my ggrandpa "Guy" Atherton named one of his sons Clive Deforest Atherton. This turns on a lightbulb for me! If you have learned more about Milton Atherton, please pass it along, as I still consider this to be a lead to my possible "Frank Atherton" ancestor.
