She gave birth to twin boys in November 2, 1971. They were born in Dayton, Ohio at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. From the information we have her father was a doctor at the same hospital. They were adopted together by another Dr. and his wife. We don't have much information. We do know that Sandy Smith had 3 other children at the time of the twins birth. We understand that she could afford to take care of all 5 children and that is the reason she gave the twins up for adoption. We belive her to have been 25 in 1971 so that would make her about 60 today. If anyone could help me with this information it would be greatfully appreciated. Christi Staten. He was first married to Margaretha Hofmann on 3/30/1856 at Miltonsburg, Monroe County, Ohio. They had four children while living in Monroe County Ohio. 1) Emilie (Amelia) born 10/9/1856 2) George Wilhelm (William) born 07/27/1858 3) Mary Salome (Sally) born 3/23/1860 4) Elizabeth (Lizzy) born 3/31/1862. Jacob entered the military service 8/15/1862 and served the Union forces in the Civil War. He was a prisoner at Andersonville Prison. He was discharged on 5/30/1865. In early 1866, the Jacob Walter family moved to Little York, Washington County, Indiana and stayed there only one year. One child was born to them in Indiana 5) Albert Jacob born 05/04/1866. In the spring of 1867 the family moved to Scott County, Missouri and lived on a farm near Kelso. Jacob Walter was the overseer of a sawmill at New Hamburg. Two of the children died in 1867, apparently of typhoid fever. Albert died 05/11/1867 and Amelia died 08/30/1867. There were both buried in the old Eisleben Lutheran Church cemetery of Illmo, Missouri. Six additional children were born to them in Scott County: 6) Ottillia (Tillie) Louisa born 03/20/1868 7) Magdalena (Lena) born 07/22/1870 8) Anna born 12/07/1872 9) Louis David (Louie) born 02/13/1875 (my ggrandfather) 10) Emma Julia born 07/26/1877 11) Louisa (Louise) Barbara born 01/09/1881. The family lost the farm in Scott County and moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1883. In September of 1888, Jacob Walter deserted his family and moved to Ansonia, Darke County, Ohio. His father, brother, and sister Barbara had moved to this place sometime around 1885. In April of 1889 Jacob Walter moved to Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio and lived there until April 16, 1895 when he entered the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home at Sandusky, Ohio. Margaret Hofmann Walter and her children who were still living at home moved to St. Louis, MO in 1890 and she moved back to Cape Girardeau in late July or early August 1902. Jacob Walter moved to Saulsburg, Wood County, West Virginia in 1904. He obtained a divorce from Margaretha Hofmann Walter on June 19, 1905 at Parkersburg, Marshall County, West Virginia. On July 6, 1905 he married Mary Scheid Mauer, a widow with 5 young children. The marriage took place at Sandusky, Erie County, Ohio. He and his second wife had 3 children: Louisa, Theodore, and Lena (must be Alice). Alice and Theodore were twins. Mrs. Mary Walter filed for divorce from Jacob Walter on April 16, 1910. He left her the same day. However, the divorce was not granted. A record shows that they were finally divorced on January 15, 1921. Jacob Walter died April 13, 1928 at Ripley, Jackson County, West Virginia at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 18 days. He is buried at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third Street, Dayton, Ohio (grave 40/row 19, section M). I was just trying to find his second family and find out who the children were for sure. Hope to hear from you and hope this helps you out. Sincerely, Dana Hutchings

I know the listing may be SAYLOR but it should be SAYLER. This is a very common mistake that still plagues the decendents of Johannes and Anna to this day. There are also children and grandchildren of Johannes buried in Scott Cemetery. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Steele@lrbcg.com> To: <OHERIE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 2:35 PM Subject: [OHErie] Re: Johannes and Anna Maria Sayler - Scott Cemetery? > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: SAYLOR > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1VB.2ACE/11734.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Dana > According to "Erie County, Ohio, Cemetery Census Before 1909" I found listed: > SAYLOR, Anna J (BEATTY), 6 FEB 1815 - 14 DEC 1893, w/o John SAYLOR. > SAYLOR, John, 9 Sep 1806 - 20 JUN 1888. > > There may be more SAYLORs buried there, but after 1908 - those records are easily obtained at the Health Dept, Bureau of Vital Statistics. > > Scott Cemetery is actually in Milan Twp, but it is the cemetery for the city of Huron. > > > > > ==== OHERIE Mailing List ==== > This list is designed to provide a discussion forum for anyone who has an interest in Erie County Ohio. > To search this list go to http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and enter OHERIE for the list name. > >

Apparently he relocated to northern Ohio with many other families from that area and married Delia vanBenschoter (vanBenschoten) 22 October 1848. They had a son Frank who was listed in the 1850 census in Erie County. They were divorced between 1850 and 1859. A Jane Patterson wrote me indicating she had a copy of the book The Van Benschoten Family in America. Her e-mail follows; however information about Milton Atherton is incorrect since he remarried in Barbour Copunty WV in 1859 and died in Tucker County WV in 1901. According to the book (which may or not be correct) Delia married two times after divorcing Milton. I may have more information at hom and will try to check it this weekend. For all of you Listers Ted's list is just an index for "Erie County, Ohio, Cemetery Census Before 1909," therefore if your relatives died after 20 DEC 1908, they will not be listed in the book or in Ted's index. The book is not indexed, so Ted's listing is a great help in searching - especially for maiden names. Carol > > --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by LRBCG.COM, Inc.]
Carol Please let me know more about your HILL/S. The Cemetery book is not indexed, so I must look at each cemetery. Please give me a township or a religion and I will do my best. I think there are probably many, many HILL/S in Erie County. There were no HILLS in West End Cemetery or I would have listed them along with the HILL names.
